My 4 year old son has been potty trained for the last 6 months with no accidents. Now over the last two weeks, he is peeing his pants all the time. I don't know what to do. He says nothings wrong. I started putting him on time out. If I force him to go all the time will he get even worse? Does anyone have any answers or suggestions?

I'd tread lightly with the punishment thing until you know for sure he's being naughty. Is he just too involved with playing that he doesn't want to take a break? Then, yeah, he's got to take responsibility to do what needs to be done. Does he not know when he needs to go? Unlikely since he's been dry for a while now...but are there any reasons emotional or physical for regression? Is he scared of the bathroom or toilet? Does he hate washing his hands? Does he think bathroom breaks take too long? How does he react when he's had an accident? If he's surprised and upset and uncomfortable, I'd take him to the doctor. If he's not shocked and not worried about it, I'd ask quesitons...he may need to see a doctor, or he may simply need some motivation. Definitely involve him in the clean-up. HE needs to change his clothes. HE needs to help with the laundry. HE needs to scrub the floor if need be. Whatever the case may be, I'd play it cool. If he knows this gets you all upset, he may use it to play you (assuming he indeed has control over it). Some kids genuinely develop bladder and kidney issues, so unless you're SURE he's just being a twirp, you may want to hold off on the punishment.

Just wanted to thank you for your insight. We are still trying to figure out what is going on...he has been good the last couple of days. I know it's a battle every morning to get him to preschool. He does not want to go and that is where he had his first accident. I have a feeling he is doing it when he gets home to get our attention after being in school all day. Thank you again!!!
