I was on Zoloft (addicted to it, actually, and over dosing a lot on it) before I got pregnant, and quit taking it as soon as I thought I was pregnant, before I even took my test, because I read online that it could cause some serious problems...

Now I keep thinking that I wish there was some medicine I could take while pregnant, and I was told by my doctor there weren't any, but then my WIC advisor told me that there were a lot I could take.

I'm also anemic, and I read some article saying that if you were anemic before/during pregnancy, there is a higher chance of suffering from post-partum depression.

Did anyone take any anti-depressents while they were pregnant/nursing?
Did anyone feel this way? What'd you do to help yourself feel better?

My doctor started me on Fluoxetine while I was pregnant. I was very emotional, to the point where I could not control my emotions. I was crying all of the time and had no patience at all! I was yelling at my hubby and my children, which was so unlike me so I talked to my doctor about it. I do not know if this will work for you or not, but it did work wonders for me. I know this is a controversial subject but my doctor assured me that it was safe and that the benefits far outweighed the very slight drawbacks.

Hey there i was also taking zoloft right before i got pregnant and had to stop taking it...i talked to my doctor and he said i should stay off meds for the first trimester unless i was having a really horrible time. I was able to get past the first 3 months somewhat ok but after that i got worse so then my dr put me on seroquel. that worked out pretty well for the rest of the pregancy until i could get back on my old meds after the birth of my son. i would also talk to your ob/gyn because he might have concerns or something and not want u to take anything like one of my friends. good luck :) i wish u a stress free pregnancy!

Hi I don't know what they were offering me, but when I suddenly burst into tears in the doctors office they kept trying to jam anti-depressants down my throat reassuring me that since I'm in my 3rd trimester "they are perfectly safe" I didn't do it because I found out later that I am Anemic and due to the constant fatigue that you have when you are Anemic you tend to be "easier to cry" and you feel just aweful alot of the time.

Take an iron supplement it helped me. And if you feel that you def. need something dont hesitate to fight your doctor. They might have "beliefs" that a pregnant woman shouldn't put anything like that into her body, so they are making you suffer and just telling you that there isn't anything you can take.

Good Luck - I hope it gets better for you!
