Hello! My name is Cyndee mother to 5 kids (soon-to-be 6 kids due Jan 27,09 or as it changes every week). I have 23 month old b/g twins which were conceived on depo also! My older two were planned and the others happened while on birth control. House can get crazy here but they are still fun. Right now I am potty training them along with my other 3 year daughter...so far, so good (crossing fingers).
Best wishes and welcome.

I am seriously nervous about potty training the twins, what strategy are you using?

Well, the twins will be 2 yrs old in Jan and they have an older sister that just turned 3 yrs old this past Aug. I noticed when I was starting to potty train big sister the twins were interested and rip off their diapers and fight over the chair. I went yard sale shopping and found 2 potty chairs. Came home disinfect them and now I have 3 chairs lined up in a row. I take them all at the same time (every 1 1/2 hrs) and give them books to read. If they did or didn't do their thing we had a routine: wipe, dump, flush and wash hands. Now they think it is fun and when it is too quiet in my house they are either getting into something or all three sitting on their chair. I reward them with a "high-five" and a hug.

Our twins are about the same age! How funny. But yours have the advantage of an older sibling who they want to be like. I unfortunately don't have that. Thanks for your advice!

well your kids are really young, so what do you mean by budgeting money between you and your kids?

You can sign up for the mailing list at Babies R Us and they send out tons of coupons that come in handy. Buy one get one half off of clothes, and with twins that really a money saver. Every sunday and Wednesday there's always coupons.
If there's ways to save money you should try it, it really makes your dollar stretch!!!
I try to buy clothes for my twins when it's on sale. When summer is going to start I buy a few winter items on sale or clearance, same goes for summer clothes. And when there's a good deal on shoes I buy them in a size bigger for later.
at the end of the day you know what the necessities are and what the wants are.... now to draw a line between them is the choice you have to make.
stock up on stuff when it's on sale.
Put up money on the side for when you want to get your hair done or need a pair of pants... or anything like that.
Unless you are lucky enough to go out and spend what you want when you want.
I'm not, so I have to do what I HAVE to do first....
i want to win the lotto. want to join? lol

I'm the last person to ask about budgeting between you and your kids. I eat less expensive- and probably less healthy meals, while the twins get the best of the best. Same goes with clothing. I laughed at the poll: Who is wearing the more expensive outfit, you or you kids. Totally my kids! Although my mother buys a lot of their brand-name stuff. I like the Gymboree outlet or shopping Old Navy's online site. They have way better sales online.
There are also tons of used baby clothes on craigslist. (if you aren't matchy-matchy about the twins)
Good luck!

Hello I am a VERY happy mommy to twin identical 9 month old girls. My husband and I tried for three years to have a baby. When the doctor told me twins I almost fell off the table. I want to be a mother for so long but to be blessed with two at one time is more than I could ask for.
I always get the same question"is it hard?" My responds is I have nothing to compair it to. These are my first and last children. I am 34 years old and feel so complete with my girls. Everyday aI learn something new about myself. I do things that I NEVER thought I would be doing.
So if there are any new mommy out there reading this hang in there it is GREAT to be a mommy of twins.
Happy mother :)

Well said, twins! It is great to be a mommy of twins. I'm betting we all get that question of "is it hard?" Of course! But you just do it- and it has it's highs and lows. But it's so much easier to concentrate on the highs. It's so great to have two little sunshines running around.

My girls ate from anybody. I had my 85 year old grandfather come over a lot during the day. He just held them and fed them, because of his age that's pretty much all he could do to help, but he was so willing to hold and feed.
Perhaps have your husband feed them early in the morning too before he goes to work? They just need to be around your hubby more. Good luck, and congrats!

Hi. I'm Valerie. I just wanna jump in. I have 20 month old fraternal twin girls, and I getting ready to have our 3rd in July. Yep, another girl. I am 26, and our twins were concieved naturally. I love being a mommy! I am so scared though of the new baby coming. She was not planned! I feel so overwhelmed already. I don't want my twins to feel left out. I know that it will all work out, as time goes on. My hormones are just getting the best of me. Does anyone else have children this close in age? My girls help out by throwing out they're diapers and picking stuff up. They are very big helpers! I have one that does go on the potty if we are at home and I have time to consentrate on her. I am afraid that it might go down hill when the baby comes. Ahhhhh. Needed to get that off the chest, lol sorry!

Hey! New also here. I'm 20 years old with 5 week old fraternal twin girls. I also conceived my twins while on Depo -- needless to say, i will not ever have that BC again lol. I carried my twins to 39w3d. Congrats on carrying them for so long and having fullterm babies. What were their weights?

It seems like a lot of people have introduced themselves in this thread so I'll jump in, too. I'm reading about all your experiences now because I just found out yesterday that I've got fraternals hiding inside me! I'm 8 weeks pregnant and have no other kids yet. We've been trying for quite a while with plenty of difficulties and this happened after we'd decided to take a break. I can't believe it. Well, actually, considering my high bHGC levels early on and the incredible nausea I've been having, maybe I had a vague suspicion deep down. I didn't think twins ran in our family but my sister is also having fraternal twins pretty soon and I just found out that grandparents on 3 sides had twins among their sibs or cousins. I was bleeding (placenta separation! Yikes!) and went to the ER for an ultrasound and that's how we found out. My husband and I both agree it was the most beautiful thing we'd ever seen in our lives, especially since we were sure it was a miscarriage. I'm just praying that all will work out and I can't wait to join the double-whammy-mommy club!
