Hello. I have a daughter that will be turning 4 in May... she refuses to use the potty! Wont even try on big girl underwear. I started potty training her at about 18 months and she would go in the potty and we would praise her and reward her and out of the blue she just stopped using the potty and ever since she wont use it. Now her 19 month old sister has used the potty a couple times and every time we would clap and cheer and do a little dance the oldest one cried. I have tried everything...EVERYTHING! Her doctor told me she is "too smart for her own good". How do I get her to use the potty. Its a terrible think to think let alone say... but ive thought about putting her potty training aside and focus on her little sister. Is that a terrible thing? HELP!!!

She is resisting for some reason. The truth is you can't train her. I would suggest you just leave it alone, don't bother with all of the fanfare. Something that worked for us, without us trying, was to let our little ones play with kids of the same age that were using the potty. That was an excellent motivator for our 3-1/2 year old - it was overnight and he was fine. She can do it, just let her be.
