Well, I may be the first to start this... It's going to be my first (and likely only) child. And it is due to arrive on the 6th of June 2009.
At this time, between 8-9 weeks, I am tired and cranky from all the nausea. I am looking forward to the second trimester. They say things tend to get better than. It's just now with how sick I feel, I am a bit unsure of the whole thing.

I'm due June 11th with my 3rd. I don't remember being this tired with either of the others, but maybe it's because now I have two other kids (4 1/2 and 2 1/2)to chase around?:)
Hopefully your nausea will decrease when you hit 14 weeks. I try to think of pregnancy as an adventure - you just never know what's going to happen, and although most of us end up with healthy babies in the end, and our paths there may generally look the same, the details are all different. What fun!:)
I am curious - did you decide ahead of time to have one child, or has the pregnancy experience been so uncomfortable to make you reconsider having more? No judgement here (it's such a personal decision) - just curiousity.
Me, I'm just hoping the extra tiredness and other symptoms don't mean that I'm having twins - my mom did, and I appreciate how much work they can be! (Of course, I'm sure I'll be thrilled if we do end up with doubles...) First appt & ultrasound in a week, so we'll see!
I'm due at the end of June. This is my first pregnancy. We were not planning to start having kids for another year, but it has been a welcome surprise. I've been tired lately and only slightly nauseous at times. Overall, I don't really feel pregnant. My first appointment is the end of next week. Not sure what to expect, but we're pretty excited.

Hello all. I am due June 27th and this is my fourth! I also, am so tired and just started dealing with nausea that seems to last all day. I have 3 boys and only remember feeling this way in the morning. Maybe it's a girl!! I can be hopeful...LOL...Don't care either way!

Congrats everyone! This is our first and were expecting around June 25th.
Ugh, I'm sooo tired today - which is hilarious. I got 9 hrs of sleep last night AND I took two 1-hr naps yesterday.

Congrats to everyone. This is our first baby and I am due around June 23rd. I have been so sick. It is horrible, I hope this ends after the 3 month period like they say. I have been super tired too. Riding in the car even gets to me which is a problem since, I have an hour commute in the morning to work. We are so excited to find out what we are having, even though it doesn't matter either way. This is just a new adventure in our life. For those of you who have been through this before please tell me that this sick feeling ends........

So have you ladies been telling everyone your news or waiting? Since it's #3, I'm trying to excercise self-control and keep it a secret as long as possible. My folks, SIL & BIL (due 3 mo. before us!), and a couple of friends know, but that's it till after Thanksgiving. At least. Maybe I'll wait till I start showing!

I am also due June 6th with my first baby, which happens to be my 19th birthday. Haha. :)
It was a planned pregnancy, but I'm still nervous. Being new to this, my fiance & I read all the pregnancy books & I love it. We're both super excited. I don't find the whole sickness thing very pleasant though. ;p

I am so excited that we were blessed with another baby that I could not wait to tell everyone. I figured if something did go wrong, I would need the support of my friends and family anyway. Good luck to you!!

Hi all. I am a first time mom in the 35 years + category due June 11th (I'll be telling everyone "end of June" to avoid an annoying daily countdown of calls). Since this is my first and I'm a little nervous, we've held off telling anyone up to this point, but I feel like my clothes already don't fit, so I think we'll tell family this weekend. I have just one question in the TMI category...."Will I ever poop again????!!!'' :) How do women go through this twice?

Congratulations! I'm on baby #4 and just turned 35. It is so much harder on my body than it was with my oldest 14 years ago! The end result is what makes it all worth it. Don't forget your fiber. It's a must...lol

I am also a first time mother to be. I am 25 and scared but excited at the same time. I was fortunate enough not to go through any morning sickness but am gaining weight, quick, but am told repeatedly it's worth every stretch mark. I do get junk food cravings, so horrible and wish I could eat more healthy but as soon as I eat an apple or pear, I want some meat!!! lol. Good luck to all of you beautiful women and keep up the good work!!!

Met with the OB today and got to hear the heartbeat for the first time! A healthy 160 beats/min...It's makes it more real now. Since I can't feel any movement yet and the pregnancy confirmation ultrasound is a good month past, it's nice to have something tangible. I hope I can feel movement soon... It would be nice to think of something other than the too tight clothes, nauseau, & constipation :)

I'm starting to feel kicks, and even thought I felt one on the outside the other day! Also, we have pretty much told everyone by now, which is good since I'm sure they'd be guessing on their own. This is our 3rd, btw, so new moms don't freak out! I'm the same size now that I was at 6 months with my first.
Our big gender-discovering US is in 3 1/2 weeks - yahoo!

I'm 24 years old and due with my second baby on June 25. I have a 3 year old daughter. It's been very interesting trying to explain the whole baby concept to her. She just understands that we're going to get a baby sometime, but she thinks that we have to buy it from the store. Anyways, I'm looking forward to sharing with the group.

lyzjost~ I'm also FINALLY starting to feel the little flutters. It first happened during the night of Christmas, but then I didn't feel anything for a week. I was terrified I'd rolled over on my stomach and smothered the baby or something, but then I felt another flutter late on New Years. I guess the baby is a night owl and I need to be awake to feel any movements :) Hopefully soon, the movements will happen more frequently and during the day so I can enjoy them more.
I'm happy to say I'm starting to feel human again...Other than tired and a little back ache, my symptons have all disappeared. Excited for my Level 2 ultrasound on Jan 22nd!

01-05-2009, 08:27 PM
Kare-bear - I'm fairly certain that it's impossible to hurt your baby with your own body weight!:) Enjoy those flutters and little kicks - by the time you get to your 8th month or so, they won't be so enjoyable! I've been feeling some kicks on the outside of my belly already, but so far Hubbie has missed them. I think he believes me, though.:)
My US is also on the 22nd! Are you finding out gender? We will, and did with our other two, then gave them "prenatal names" so we could keep our choices private. Leah's was "Mavis", and Ben's was "Melvin"...was fun to see people's faces when they thought those were their real names!
kare.bear
01-06-2009, 11:42 AM
lyzjost...LOVE your idea of giving a prenatal name! We have some "great", truly awful names we could use.
We are definitely finding out the gender. I always said I never would, but now that I'm expecting my first, I desperately want to know. I want to be able to refer to the baby as him or her instead of BB (like a BB gun), which is how my husband refers to him/her when we talk about the baby... :) It's actually very cute - he'll ask me if his BB is hungry now and shouldn't I be having an apple and cheese (he's from WI, cheese is a MUST) or something to hold the BB over until dinner.
I want a boy because DH loves remote control cars/planes and ATV's and I can just see DH and his little shadow enjoying all that stuff together... He wants a girl since his family hasn't had a girl for two generations and he said a little girl can do all that stuff with him too... So true! We'll both me ecstatic with a healthy baby no matter the gender...

Had my ultrasound today and it's a GIRL!!! DH is SO excited and MIL can't contain herself :) SIL is already out shopping for girl's clothes... Everything else looks absolutely normal and no additional testing needed due to age 35+ at this time. YEAH!

Congrats kare bear. I'm also having a little girl. My name is Chelsea, i'm 18 and also, 18 weeks prego. I found out the sex of my baby at 15 weeks. Anyone else find out this early? Oh yeah, and i absolutely love feeling my baby move. She is so random with her movements and I was wondering. Does anyone else ever feel like you're going to throw up when your baby moves? I'm due June 15. Anyone else due on that day?

01-22-2009, 06:24 PM
Oh yeah, kare bear. I am empathize with you about the little girl thing also. My fiance's mother has wanted a little girl all of her life. She got two boys instead and had two miscarriages trying for a girl. Chad's brother also has two boys and he isn't having anymore children. I am also very honored to be giving his family a little girl. My family isn't too excited, though. My entire family hasn't had a new baby boy in 17 years!!!! Well, maybe next time, huh?

So far I don't feel much movement... The U/S showed she was pretty wiggly, but while I can feel the weight of the baby shift from one side to the other at times, I don't feel many flutters or any kicks. Hoping that comes soon :)

Thank you so much for your support. It was hell telling my family that I was pregnant. Not to mention, my bf if 30 years old so they all think he's too old for me but we really really love each other. We plan to get married after the baby comes for insurance purposes. I was scared to death at first. Now, the only thing that is happening is that I keep finding stuff wrong with me and freaking myself out. Yesterday, I found a swollen lymph node under my armpit and I called my doctor and told him I have cancer but he told me it was nothing. I know i'll be a good mother but i'm going to worry the mess out of my child with my worrying. lol. I have an appt. on Feb 3, so i'll find out for sure that its a girl. I hope you find out tomorrow if that baby can uncross his legs! lol.

I had worries than and now too. With my first pregnancy i was afraid that my baby will have a down syndrom even i was only 21 and i don't have any in my family with this syndorm. Thanks GOD.The same worry i had with this pregnancy while tests and US show that everything is ok.Let's say worries are natural and normal duaring these amazing nine months!!!

We are having a boy! We have a girl (4 1/2) and a boy (almost 3), and our daughter wouldn't say if she wanted a sister or a brother, although our little boy said definitively, "Boy!" When we asked what he preferred. So we are glad that he won't be disappointed.:)
Magnus (his prenatal name!) is sure a mover, though - I've been feeling him since about 16 weeks, and now it's getting kind of crazy. We are due June 15th.
I told my husband that now I really want a 4th baby to try to have another girl - he wan't a big fan of that idea!
My little guy is such a sweetie and big cuddler, so if this boy is like him, it would be great!:)

Question for those of you who are on your 2nd or more pregnancy... the last few days I've had horrible pains in my back and left butt cheek. I thought maybe the baby is on my sciatic nerve but everything I've read says to expect that much later than 22 weeks. Is the baby big enough to pinch my sciatic nerve at this point or should I assume the problem is something else and make an appointment for a chiroprator?

Happy to report that by week 23, the pain was gone...Still don't know if she was sitting on something, or if it was another type of pain, but glad it's gone! I'm also finally looking pregnant... I still look just "heavy" in a few of my shirts, but in the majority of them, I'm showing baby belly... I picked up an adorable maternity shirt to wear with black slacks to our special Valentine's Day dinner. Last one without a baby :) Enjoy your VDay everyone!

Hi, I wanted to find other women for support. I am due June 19 with boy #4. I am married, but my husband left me, for the 2nd time this year, early February. I am working part-time and taking care of our boys, 15, 6, and 3 without support financially or emotional from my husband. I am 41 and find myself feeling a little better (emotionally) yet still suffer from migraine headaches. I wanted to know if there are other married (or not) women out there in similar situation.

aniri - Yay for boys! I have an almost 3 yr old little guy, and he's a honey. Cuddly, hilarious, and not exceedingly naughty...I wouldn't mind having another like him.:)
kare.bear - glad to hear your weird pains are over! I moved too many boxes yesterday and my back is protesting. To be expected.:)
tarewoodley - Is your husband contributing financially? He should be, as well as taking care of the boys sometimes too. I can't imagine what you are going through right now. Do you have a support base at church? Is there anywhere locally that you could find such a group?

WhooHOO! Hit the 6 month mark...Now I'm just feeling like I've been pregnant forever and will be pregnant forever...
I had to laugh, made a date to see an old friend tonight...Haven't hung out with her for over a month and wasn't showing much then... She asked me how adventerous I felt - like should we go skiiing or something???!!! Now, last month I may have had the energy to do it, but still would NOT have in case I were to fall, but this month - take one look at me and ANYONE could tell, I am NOT going skiiing....LOL... I had to tell her that a little less adventerous activity like dinner and a movie would have to suffice :)
Anyone else get some ridiculous suggestions for activities while pregnant?

Today I reached 6 months (24 weeks) mark! I considered it as a "golden month" of pregnancy, because everybody can see that you are expecting and you are not too big and exsausted like at the end.So far so good. My baby boy is very active I can feel it and I like it.

Braxton-Hicks have started. Anyone else? They are soo not fun, and make wearing under-the-belly maternity pants uncomfortable.
I have a baby name request for you guys. Our other kids' names are Leah Elizabeth and Benjamin Aaron. We want something biblical for this next boy, but not something that screams "BIBLE!!"...and not something too common or trendy, like Michael. We are pretty solid on the middle name, though. So, my question(s) are...do you have a great name for us?
And...which of these 4 seems the least trendy and least "BIBLE!!!"?
Noah Henry
Caleb Henry
Adam Henry
Judah Henry
Or, which do you just like the most, of course.:) We'll probaby go to the hospital with the whole list, if not more...I like to have choices.:)
kare.bear
04-01-2009, 03:36 PM
No Braxton-Hicks for me yet, but the breasts are leaking like crazy! I've awoke in the middle of the night with my nightgown completely soaked in front... I know I could wear a bra to bed with liners, but that would be SOOO uncomfortable for me, plus hubby likes his access (I know, too much TMI) :) So, I'll just keep washing the sheets every few days as it happens...
I love the name Caleb Henry! How 'bout Isaiah? That's my nephew's name and it really suits him... I also like Daniel, Benjamin, and Luke but those names are more common...
lyzjost
04-01-2009, 11:06 PM
Well, we already have a Benjamin.:) And a nephew named Daniel, several friends kids named Luke, and another good friend with an Isaiah (and others with Josiah, Isacc, and Elijah). You are definitely on the right track!
If your boobs are leaking now, just wait for the first couple weeks after giving birth! I have worn nursing camisoles to bed in the past...so much easier for night feeding, plus keeps nursing pads in place. And I didn't let my hubbie touch them for those 6 weeks they tell you to wait...:)

04-04-2009, 10:25 PM
Can you believe that Eli/Levi have been deemed "too common" by the husband? I never would have thought it. Also, Nathan, Samuel, Andrew, Jonathon, and David have all been thrown out as already taken. Yep.
So, is Judah too weird? Judah Henry Jost...I like it.:)
kare.bear
04-07-2009, 12:15 PM
I like Judah! I also just heard the name Israel...a little boy. It really suited him and what could be more biblical? :)
We actually settled on Jude Dominic a couple of months ago...Judah is definitely not weird! (I just hope my MIL doesn't decide his name will be JD.)

So I was given my "birth plan" paperwork to fill out yesterday at my 32 week appointment... I asked hubby if he wanted to cut the cord, he said he trusted the Dr's could get it right without him :)
I've decided I want only my hubby in the room, want my baby cleaned up before I hold him/her, want an epidural, and it's ok to give my baby a pacifier....There was lots of other stuff on the sheet, but I'm curious as to what your birth plans look like...
lyzjost
04-28-2009, 02:21 PM
Kare bear - I think we have pretty much the same birth plan! My husband is a pediatrician, and he still doesn't want to cut the cord! He didn't with the other two, either.
I had our babies wiped off a bit - no white gunk.:) Also, with my first I asked for a "light & late" epidural. I was 7cm dilated when I got to the hospital, but I still got that epidural - just a bit later than I'd thought! With my second, I was at the hospital about an hour after contractions started and was 6cm - light & late again, with or without that specifications. (I'm going to the hospital with my first contraction this time!) It was not my experience that the epidurals slowed my labor - 1st had postioning issues, 2nd was 4 hours, start to finish.
Pacifiers are great! I'm bringing my own with, too. Don't forget swaddling blankets (specialized or just receiving blankets)! Anyway - hospital bags are a whole other topic.
We are having another ultrasound at our 34 week appt. on Thurs to make sure the placenta is not covering the cervix. Doc was a bit concerned about that after the 20 week US. I'm excited to see our little guy again!

I do have a question though. Are any of you worried about the swine flu and are you avoiding going out.A small place 2 hrs away has 2 confirmed cases and iam very scared to go out.I still have a lil bit of shopping left to do.

I try to keep the swine flu in persepctive...The regular flu has killed far more people this winter than the swine flu...it's just new and appears to have jumped species, which makes for good news coverage... The treatment is the same as the regular flu... So I just treat it the same way. I wash my hands, use anti bacterial wipes at work on common surfaces if someone around me is sick, drink plenty of fluids, get good rest, etc... This winter we had so many strains of flu floating around our office that our cleaning crew had already upped their disinfectant use, so I feel safe as long as I take care of myself. Of course, if I was prone to getting every little illness that came along, I would be more concerned...but, overall, I tend to be a pretty healthy person aside from an occasional sinus infection which are typically not contagious anyway.

Hi kare...i understand what you are saying but being a paranoid person and preggo on top of it has thrown all reason out of the window. The fact that the drugs for this swine flu have never been tested and nobody knows their risks for pregnant woman has me worried. If it was an illness with proper drugs to combat it would have been a different matter.

Rimi: I can totally understand being paranoid!!!! Last night I was laying on the couch thinking "this baby just isn't moving enough, perhaps I should go in and make sure nothings wrong"...Well, sheer laziness is the only thing that kept me from going in (not to mention a bed all to myself last night as my husband was on a business trip). Well, today at work, she is throwing a totally unchaperoned party in there and is driving me up the wall.... I was worrying about her pathetic little flutters all night and she just must have been saving up for her big party today. Now I suppose she'll be quiet as a peep again for a couple of days....
I am always worrying she hasn't been active enough in the last X # of days and then she goes off and makes me look foolish, but I can't seem to stop worrying constantly doing those quiet moments she has....

Its soo much fun to feel her moving and having a ball.Dont ask me why.I love being able to touch her lil hands and legs.
However, i wonder if some veteran moms can throw some light on this.Do babies who move a lot in the womb continue that...meaning are they more active than the babies who dont move constantly?

Rimimom - My first was fairly active, my second was more so, and my third seems to be trying to set a record. However, my kids are both fairly laid back, comparitively. So I don't know how much fetal activity has to do with baby's personality - at least, I hope there's not a direct correlation, or baby #3 will be bouncing off the walls!
Swine flu: I agree with kare bear - we haven't heard about any mass infections yet, (except for the group from NY who went to Mexico?) - I mean, where I'm at, it's one case here and there - not exactly an outbreak. And it's not like it just APPEARS - you have to catch it from someone. I haven't really changed any of my routine.
My Braxton-Hicks come at any time, but usually when I'm doing too much - housecleaning or hosting a group or something. Hubbie makes me sit down and breathe.:) At 36 weeks (last Thurs) I was dilated 1 cm, but I walked around that way for 2-3 weeks with the last baby!
Good luck, ladies, and try to enjoy your last weeks of true freedom!:)

hi,all. I am 36 weeks today and 2cm dilated. My ob told me that it doesn't mean much because I can go like that for another 2-4 weeks. But I am a little nervouse b/c that's my second and with the first one I had very fast labor and delivery, and heard that with second it is even faster. Also we are planning leave a city for long weekend, going upstate for hiking and so on. I do not really want to start give a birth somewhere in a mountain. Is anybody has the same situation? How really long I can go like this?

Aniri...wish I could help you out...I'm at 37 weeks and am dilated to 3cm. My husband is leaving town for the long weekend and wants my assurance that I won't go into labor while he's gone... I can't give him that assurance, but am hoping that I wait at least 3 more weeks as I have so much on my calendar between now and then, BUT babies have their own agenda and rarely take into consideration our plans - no matter how fun! :)
My doctor also says I could go 2 - 4 more weeks, esp since it doesn't look like I've dropped yet... But, OH THE WADDLING! Started that this week and feel like a beached whale as I move from place to place... Dear Hubby thinks it's the most funny thing to watch me try to get out of the couch after watching tv... Glad he's amused ;)

Rimi: My doctor told asked me if I'd like to know since just checking can actually cause spotting and can cause you to dilate a little further. I told her I wanted to know... I need to know some progress is happening down there!

Hi,. Is anyone planning home birthing? I would do it I think, but it is too late to think about it,right? My DH thinks while I am not in labor I can find a midwife. But i am not shure. I never had this exprience, but i read a lot of positive stories about home birthing.

Rimi: There was some discomfort while she checked for dilation, but I wouldn't call it painful - only slightly more invasive than a pap smear... The spotting I had occurred over the next 24 hours and was painless, but required that I wear a pad to protect my underwear (not that I haven't been wearing one anyway "in case" I sneeze and leak...I know - TMI!)
Aniri: I am too worried about something going wrong at a homebirth. I am 36 years old and want the reassurance that if the baby shows any stress, a doctor is right on hand to assist with all the modern equipment available. Since I'm already considered a moderate risk due to age, I will not put my baby at any additional risk if I can help it...

**Sigh** I'm having a mini WIG OUT moment... I'm usually calm and handle changes with minimum fuss, but today that's not working... I went in today for my weekly appointment (37.5 weeks) and was told that baby is not cooperating...She has been doing somersaults and now is breeched (despite being head down last week). The first recommendation of the Dr was to schedule a C section for week after next. I thought I was ok with the idea of a c-section, but I guess I'm only ok with it if it's an emergency.... I don't want to have one on the calendar as a scheduled thing...
Anyway, I asked about other options, and although the Dr said they would like to have done one by now - they are willing to try a version (I need to do more research on this) and go in and manually try to turn her. Tomorrow I have an appointment to be at Labor and Delivery where they will pump me full of something to relax the pelvis and see if they can go in and turn her around. If it works, GREAT! and I can most likely carry until natural labor starts. If not, the C section will have to go on the calendar. Also, if the baby shows any stress during the version tomorrow, they will do an emergency C-section.
I know - it is what it is, but for some reason the thought of needing a scheduled C Section for a first baby disapoints me. I can feel totally comfortable with the idea of an emergency C section if the baby shows signs of stress, but to schedule one for the first child somehow seems like a failure to me.
So, here's hoping the version goes without a hitch tomorrow and thanks for listening to my mini wig out session :)

Hi, kare.bare. Hope everything will be fine. Did you hear something about using acuopuncture points to turn a baby into birth position? My DH is acupuncturist and he used to work with Gyn/OB and he did it many times. It works!!! Two weeks ago I had my oB appoitment and he told me that baby head is down, but face is up and it should be face down. So my DH did couple treatments to me and I have my next appoitment on June,2. Can't wait to see if it worked. Good luck to you tommorow. Keep us informed.

Thanks for the well wishes...Unfortunately, the version was not successful. Baby is very healthy, but very stubborn. The Doc who performed the surgery has a 70% success rate with versions on first time babies (national average is 58%) and she said that Baby's little butt is VERY firmly lodged in my pelvis and is unlikely to move... So, this afternoon I'm off to my regular Dr to schedule a C-Section...
The Doc who did the version did mention other alternative methods I could try - exercises or massage (she did not mention acupuncture, but I'll have to look into that). She is not confident that they will work in my case because the Baby's butt is down instead of just side lying, but she says I can try them if I wish - I just have to be aware of the risks (placenta dislodging or cord entanglement), so I'm going to do some research and see if I want to give one or more a try. If I do show up on C Section day and she has moved to a heads-down position, they will induce me and let me try to proceed vaginally, so I am leaning toward giving at least one of the alternate methods a try, just want to research which ones have the least risk to baby.
Still a little disappointed but feel better that at least I've tried to correct the problem medically. I think that was most important to me - have I tried to ensure the best for the baby?
Hope all are healthy and well!

Hi,all. So June is here. Are you ready for the big event in your life! I am defenetly YES!!! Today saw my OB and he told me I have one more week to go. Baby is 7 lbs, now and in correct position-head is down, face is down(two weeks ago he was head down, but face up. My DH did me acupuncture and it worked). Since taht's my second child doc said I should not have any problems with delivery. My boy is very active, sometimes I think he is never resting. I got 38 lbs total. That's a lot I think. Now I am planning how i will ''burn'' them.
Kare.bear, eventually it does not matter how your child will be born via c-section or vaginal. The main thing that she will be healthy and happy baby. And do not allow surounding people make you think that you failed the most impotant exam as mom in your life BECAUSE IT IS NOT TRUE.

Hi,ladies. I think some of you already are busy taking care of a newborn! I am still waiting . My due date is June,16 wich is tomorrow and I have an Appoitment to my doc. So far no signs of labor. I am very tired being pregnant. With my first son I gave birth in 2 days after a due date. Hope this time it will not take longer. Good luck.
