My 1 year old sleeps through the night 1 night and than the next night he's up at 11,3,and 5. He will sleep through the night a couple of night in a row than the next night he won't sleep. I have no idea what his problem could be, goes to bed at the same time. Any ideas?

I remember my son doing this. I'm pretty sure it's normal. He needs to learn to go back to sleep on his own. If he's crying when he wakes up go check on him but don't talk because you need to be boring, cover him back up, and try to leave the room. Do not take him out of bed. If you take him out of bed he will think it's time to be awake. If he needs changed do it in his bed. Eventually he will soothe himself back to sleep. If he wakes up and he is not crying don't go in his room, wait and give him the chance to go back to sleep on his own. Even if he is crying I might try to leave him be for a min or 2 just to see if he will quite down and go back to sleep on his own.

My daughter's doing the same thing! She's 13 months old, and she's forgotten how to sleep well which means my husband and I are once again desperate for sleep! She'll do rotten for about a week than be okay for a few days then back to bad. I think it can be anything from teething to growing pains to dreams. We've just been going in and giving her the paci and tucking her back in. We change her if the diaper is about to explode, but we try to avoid picking her up at all cost. Keep with the routine, and don't let him develop any bad habits during this phase. It will pass. Be patient.
