I know... I should be put on the racks for this statement. But I just am not into it this year! My twins are almost two, and I got excited about their costumes and started looking in late September. Only to find all the good ones are gone! A girlfriend of mine informed me that crazy moms scoop up all the cool ones in August! Curse you all for doing this early! Some of us are still in the middle of 100 degree weather and don't want to even think about a time when there might be cooler weather- because it will be torture! Quit being so dang together and with it!
My second peeve for Halloween is that my kids are too small to really enjoy it. Plus, what do they need candy for? I'm not giving them candy! And my thighs certainly don't need it either.
Thirdly, my kids go to bed at 7:30. I'm going to have to post a huge sign for no trick-or-treaters after this time and feel like the neighborhood witch. Grr to you, Halloween! Fall should be fun, and you have spoiled it!

Update: I found this http://www.oldnavy.com/browse/product.do?cid=6269&pid=600616&scid=600616002
so at least I'm excited about the "costume"

Sorry Ashley but I've had Charlie's Superman costume since August. I got it on eBay if that redeems me at all. :)

As far as turning your light off at 7:30, we sit outside in our front yard with a fire going on Halloween. We offer warm cider for the parents and they love us! I know I sound like 'one of those' moms but I love Halloween. I love to see the kids in their costumes.

Those outfits are adorable. Which one(s) did you get????

Those first 2 Haloweens I had the same problem. So I learned a long time ago to get my sons Optimus Prime costum early. Sitting on the porch with the treats is a really good way to keep kids away from your door after the girls are asleep. If you take them trick or treating make up goody bags out of the candy you don't want them having and give the bags to other kids in your family.

The candy corn ones that say "I want candy!" (although grandma just got back from Spain and brought flamenco dancer costumes. So I guess they'll be flamenco dancers this year! Bailed out again by my mommy!)
... and I will forgive you, charliesmommy. I guess I just have to step up my game! Sitting outside is a great idea. Thanks!
