View Full Version : rings?
at some point during my pregnancy I removed my engagement ring for fear it would get stuck on my swelling fingers. It turns out that was a very smart move on my part cause my fingers, and feet, not to mention the size of my ass and chest, did swell. but now it's been nearly 7 weeks since the birth of my son and my ring still doesn't fit. any one else have this problem? will the size of my fingers eventually return to normal or should I just go get it resized?
I hate to say it, but you will probably have to get your ring re-sized. But, I'd wait until you are sure you're at the size your fingers are going to stay at. Mine started out really swollen after the birth, but after about three months they were still about 1/2 size bigger than pre-pregnancy. They haven't changed since and my son is 3.

After a year and a half of not being able to wear my rings, I broke down and got them re-sized. Probably a good 2 1/2 sizes up! Fat fingers!
But now I'm on a nice streak of losing the weight, so I'll probably have to size them back down at some point.
Soon after the birth of our twins, I couldn't bear not having my wedding rings. So I went and bought a huge (fake) ring. It had a gigantic yellow "diamond" and was gorgeous. It was fun to parade around in my rock star ring for a while.

Before my 1st pregnancy I wore my rings all the time and I had to take them off for my c-s. (no jewelry in the OR) I was really swollen after the surgery, and couldn't wear them, but now I can.
That's a good idea, getting the fake ring. I've been losing some weight just from breastfeeding. within two weeks of having my son I'd lost 28 of the 50 pounds I'd put on. since then I've only lost 2 more pounds, but I'm slowly and surely losing weight. I think I'll get a fake ring. since I'm still losing weight maybe it will fit soon? I tried it on this morning and I could get it on over my knuckles but I almost couldn't get it off. I was really worried for a second there that I was going to have to hop in the car and go get it cut off! It was super tight on my finger and I had to work to get it off again. I would have left it on but it was cutting off the circulation. I could get it on at least though, so I'm thinking that I may be able to wear it again soon if I lose a few more pounds.
so I think I'll wait awhile longer before resizing it just to see.
I will be going shopping for a fake ring though in the meantime. I just hate the dirty looks people give you when your holding your baby and not wearing a ring. It pisses me off. I've even been asked by a complete stranger if his father was at all involved in his life. It was hard to restrain myself. Even if we weren't "married" (we're technically only engaged and will be for some years to come due to finacial and legal issues with his ex, but in our eyes we're married) what business is it of yours and what makes you think you've the right to ask?

I was totally freaked about this as well. I had twins and there's the "celebrity" factor when you have twins- I couldn't get through one store without a conversation with a stranger. I felt so insecure without my wedding ring- totally random. My husband tried to convince me I was crazy to think that way- but ha! It happened to someone! It's odd, because I usually couldn't care less what people think- but whatever! Have fun shopping for fake ring. It's really kinda fun.
