I REALLY need some advice! I have a(almost) 4 year old and we are having a lot of trouble with the whole potty training thing. We started over the summer and he did great, he went on the potty EVERY single time, very few accidents, he would even go all night without having an accident. Then he slowly started having accidents but little ones so we wouldn't know he had one until we would see his underpants, he wouldn't soak through. It started with one every now and then and then began to increase. Last week he was having like 5-6 per day!! I brought him to the DR. to rule out a UTI and she told us to see a urologist. She aslo suggested that we put him in Pull-Ups and stop the battle (as it was getting really bad) SO we did that and have been encouraging him to still use the potty with prizes for being dry. Well........it has backfired. He is now peeing and pooping in his pull-up because he is too interested in whatever he is doing at the time to go to the bathroom. I just don't know what to do anymore.........ANY SUGGESTIONS????

Have there been any major changes in your family or home? if so this could be stress related and if so he may just need time to adjust.

But if not I’d Go back to the basics set a timer for half an hour, forty five minutes, or an hour when the timer goes off its POTTY TIME! We set it for an hour in our house it’s a bit annoying to me but a big help for my two year old daughter who gets very wrapped up in what ever toy she is playing with, also remember it’s potty time when child gets up in the morning before and after eating, and before and after naps, and before bed. It’s really important to get them on that routine I’d also get rid of the pull ups we’ve been training are children since they were little babies to potty in a diaper and think they are just confusing for children.
Granted we have occasional accidents and I have to get out the Bissell but it works for us
We also do little treats and stickers for every actual result 1 candy for pee 2 for poo we use M & M’s our Smarties

But what ever you do be consistent

Good luck
