I have a 3 1/2 year old that has had 3 cases of night-time vomiting in the past week and a half. She's also had either diarrhea or loose stool for 2 weeks, and doesn't eat much (sometimes she says her tummy hurts.) We took her to the doctor, who basically just shrugged and said he didn't know. She doesn't have a tummy bug because no one she's come into contact with has gotten sick. There was a case of strep throat going around, but the doctor says she doesn't have it. The doctor doesn't think it is reflux because she hasn't had a cough. Nothing in her diet has changed (she has lots of food allergies, so we keep track of what she eats.)

Does anyone have any idea on what it could be? Should I be worried?

so how is your 3 1/2 year old doing? my daughter is 1 1/2 and has very similar symptoms. hers has been going for 6 weeks now. and she really only vomits either saturday or sunday morning. we thought it was dairy so we cut that out. then we thought it was the toothpaste, so we cut that out. once we think she over ate. but now this morning she was surrounded by a pool of water, not even digested vomit.

i am so perplexed and have now turned to the message boards. we also took her in to the doctor and then did some testing on her stool, but all came back normal.

if you get a chance, let me know where you two are at.

An email from another forum member reminded me about this post, so I thought I'd post a follow up. Even if it's been over a year!

Unfortunately, we never got any answers. Wasn't parasites, no stomach bug, nothing. We thought maybe it was mucus so we gave her allegra thinking it was allergies, but I'm not sure that helped. It lasted about 2 months. And then, she was fine. No rhyme or reason to it. She just stopped puking one day.
