My 3 month old daughter was a preemie (born at 34 weeks weighing 4 lbs 2 oz). She never had to be in the NICU and she came home from the hospital 5 days old. However, the hospital nursery as well as her pediatrician placed her on high calorie formula supplement (I was also nursing) and told me to feed her every 2 hours to help her gain weight faster. She ended up with reflux and colic so her pediatrician changed her to a different formula and told me to go ahead and start mixing rice cereal with it when she was 2 months old to help with the projectile vomiting from the reflux.
She is now 3 months old and 9 lbs and she STILL needs to be fed every 2 hours! She eats between 2-3 ounces (of formula mixed with rice cereal) at one time and it only holds her over for 2 hours! I can't get anything done, I can't sleep at night, I'm at my wits end because when I try to make her go 3-4 hours between feedings it's like WWIII in my house!
Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas on what to try?
