My doctor stripped (or swept) my membranes today at my appointment. I am 10 days away from my due date. Has anyone else had this done, and how soon after you had them stripped did you deliver? This is all so new to me, I didn't even know what it was when he talked to me about it last week. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Cool. Yes I had it done with my first pregnancy my midwife did it. I was already at 3 cm when she did and my water broke like 5 days later if I remember right. Water broke without contraction for me. I had to be induced at hospital. I did alot of walking .... :0 Good luck :0

My OB did this for all three of my pregnancies. The further along you are (thinned out and dialation), the more likely it is to work. With my first, she attempted it three times starting two weeks before my due date. The first couple of tries were unsucessful, but they did give me pre-labor contractions for a few hours afterward. The third time worked like a charm. I had contractions all the way home. A few hours later we realized that they had turned into the real thing. I had a 4pm appointment and was on my way to the hospital by midnight! With my second and third, it was attempted. For each of them, my water ended up breaking without any contractions instead. It really depends on how ready your body is. Maybe you'll see some desired results! Best of luck to you!
