I thought I'd start an area for moms due in May 2011.
I'm due May 15, Mothers Day! With my second child. My first child is a son he is three years old. It has been a great pregnancy so far. Welcome and feel free to ask questions, rant, share stories, etc.
Congrats on your pregnancies!

Hey prica- wow not many people on this board! I am due May 27th with my 3rd. My DS is 4 and my DD is 8months. So far so good with this pregnancy. A lot easier than my DD so I'm thinking this one may be another boy.

HI! I have never really joined one of these groups before but I don't have ANY friends who are pregnant with me this time. My son is 3 also (Prica) and I'm due on May 10th. I am wondering if any of you have told your other children yet and how you did it or plan to do it. We haven't but I feel it is just around the corner and I'm getting a little nervous.

Hi, I'm Stephanie, it seems I have the earliest due date in the May club; I am due on the 5th. I am having a boy and all the wives tales about what to expect when carrying a boy verses a girl is not all true. I had horrible morning sickness up until my 16th week, until a doctor suggested taking a nausea pill each morning to head it off and I have been so emotional.

My DH was deployed through my first two pregnancies and births. He wasn't able to come home until my DS was 9 months and my DD was 4 months. Thankfully, he will be here through this entire pregnancy and be here for the birth too. I'm actually more nervous because he is going to be here this time. I am so used to doing everything my way for the first few months that I'm not sure how he is going to fit into the newborn stage. We'll see. Oh and I just found out on Friday that this is another little girl. She really had me fooled because I was convinced that I was having another boy.

Anyway, how is everyone feeling? Anyone else find out the sex of their baby?

I'm due May 25th with my first child, a boy if I can believe the ultrasounds. I guess I'll share, rant, and ask questions, lol.

My pregnancy was pretty miserable until about 20 weeks due to intense nausea and throwing up almost nightly (I had morning sickness right after dinner typically). I've also had strong heartburn throughout, though I've got a hang on it now (no fear of lack of calcium!). Now, I have backaches of varying severity day and night along with his strong 'kicks' mainly aimed at my bladder. I'm also super tired all the time with wobbly legs if I stand or walk about a store too long. I feel utterly useless most days, barely able to get the mail let alone cook or anything else remotely productive. My hubby is amazing, taking up all the chores around the house in addition to working full time (luckily he works from home, but he barely has time to relax lately). I wish I could call for the 'help' most books say to use: moms, aunts, sisters, etc. but I don't have any of that, it's just us. After I give birth has me the most worried since eating out won't be an option with a newborn and possibly bed-ridden mommy. Books say to freeze meals, but when I can barely cook the ones we need now, how exactly will I manage that?

A question I have is how can one tell if they're experiencing Braxton-Hicks contractions? I've read in books that it is a "uterine contraction, like labor", but they never go more into it. I've had what could be BH's, but without knowing what they feel like, I can't be sure.

My name is Susanne and I am a doctoral student in Social Psychology at Kent State University. I am interested in how mothers prepare for the changes of parenthood and to examine this I am currently conducting a study that will include approximately 100 first-time mothers. If you are married or living with your significant other and expecting your first child you may be eligible to participate in my study. My study has already received approval from Kent State’s Institutional Review Board. Participation is confidential and involves two short online questionnaires (the first during your 3rd trimester and the second at 1-month postpartum). I hope that the results of the study will provide helpful information to future mothers as they make the joyous and challenging transition to being a parent. For more information about the study, please contact me at babytime@kent.edu.
