Please tell me I'm not alone?!? My daughter is 4 1/2 and my son is 3. They have both been potty trained during the day since they were 2. But I made the mistake of keeping on the diaper at night. My mother-in-law said when she trained my husband when he was 2, he didn't take a daiper at all, day or night. Now my kids are older and I'm trying to get rid of the diaper but every night they are peeing in the bed. I've tried no drinks for 2 hours before bedtime and making them go potty before they go to bed. Please someone tell me I'm not alone? Tell me I'm not the only mom out there with kids trained during the day but not at night? Is this normal?

Because I said so

No, youre not alone!

My friend has a 5 yr old daughter & she still wears a pull up at night. I looked up some information for you & this is what I found...

For infants and young children, urination is involuntary, meaning they have no control over it. Wetting is normal for them. Most children achieve some degree of bladder control by 4 years of age. Daytime control is usually achieved first while nighttime control comes later.

The age at which bladder control is expected varies considerably.

+ About 40% of 3-year-old children and 15-20% of 5-year-old children wet the bed frequently.

+ Most children simply outgrow bedwetting & dryness can be expected in most 7-year-old children.

I hope this helps, for more info click here: http://www.emedicinehealth.com/bedwetting/article_em.htm

Thank you Because I Said So. I have actually been working with her more. The daycare stopped giving her so much juice in the afternoon. Now she's only allowed one cup of juice in the afternoon and the rest of the day is water or milk. I've cut her off from drinking after 7. She goes to bed about 8:30 so we make sure to go potty right after brushing her teeth. Then when I go to bed between 9:30 and 10:00 I wake her up to go to the potty again. She's made it the last 2 nights in a row now with dry underwear! I worked with her for one whole week with no pull ups at all but to no avail. Then I bought pull ups for her again and she had them on one night and wet in them. She's been asking if she can just sleep with her underwear now. So we're making progress. Maybe some of this will help your friend.

My daughter is almost 3.5 yrs old and when I asked her doc about this at her 3 yr check up she said most kids aren't night time trained yet so I am not worried. She said sometimes it can take kids until they are 5 or a lil older. Just remember every child is different. I have a friend whose kid isn't day trained even at 3 yrs old so each child's timeline is way different.
