2 month shots

i am a 20 year old single mom and my 2 month old is getting his shots and i dont know about them very much. i dont really like the new flu shot and a few others. if anyone can tell me about them i would appreciate it. i just want to make good choices for my son

I don't believe they will give any flu shots to a baby under 6 months. Each of my 3 has received all of their shots on the recommended schedule and we have never experienced any adverse side effects. When you go to the appointment they will give you papers that talk about each shot that your child is getting and you have the right to refuse any if you do not want to vaccinate, but in my opinion any dangers are outweighed by the risks of the diseases they are meant to prevent/lessen the effects of.

Honestly, vaccine info is very biased on BOTH sides of the debate. What I did was look up the above schedule, look up the disease it is supposed to protect against, and then decide what risk I was willing to take for my child and family. Many vaccines do not provide herd immunity (none for the 2 month series), and many do not protect against the disease itself, but they do make the symptoms milder. Find out what the ingredients are and if you are comfortable with them. You can find out the specific vaccine that your doc uses by asking for a package insert prior to your visit. You can also look into components through the John Hopkins Institute for Vaccine Safety

Take your time, read, study and come to a decision that you are comfortable with. Know that you can change your mind, that it's okay to feel overwhelmed and to take it bit by bit. Also, look into your state 'requirements' for school admission and what types of waivers are available (religious, philosophical, etc) as this will affect your decision as well.
