I have 2 1/2 yr twins, girl and boy. I am trying to potty train, but unsuccessful. My girl tells me when she pees or poops in her diaper but my boy is oblivious. I have tried taking them potty several times per day and nothing. Today I knew my boy was trying to poop, so I took him to the potty. We stayed there for like 15 min but nothing. My girl was getting roudy so I had to put a diaper back on him. 2 min later he poops diaper. It is hard to put them both on potty because they distract each other. Ok moms of twins, please give me some advice. I know my girl is ahead on this one, hoping she would be an influence on my boy.

All I can say is one at a time. Start with the one that shows interest. Make sure that your baby boy sees that if sister does pee or poo in potty that she gets a special treat. I usually make that treat an m&m or skittles. It just works!

Hi there. I have boy/girl twins who are not quite 2 yet. However, I know with my almost 4year old son, he wasn't ready to be potty trained until he was about 3. Girls are generally ready for potty training much earlier than boys. My advice is to try with your daughter first, and then see if your son seems interested by watching her. He may not be and you can just wait a few months for him. I'm planning on training my daughter first, probably this summer (hopefully!), and just seeing how it goes with her twin brother. He will probably not be ready yet, which is fine. Good luck!

I don't have twins, and I have yet to potty train. But, a thought is maybe have 2 toddler potties next to each other, that way they can try together and they may not distract each other as much if they are both on the potties at the same time.

However, njmomof3 probably has the right idea of training your boy a little later as on average boys train later anyway.

Good luck

I feel for you. I am having the same problem with my twin boys. They turned three in September and just don't want to potty train. I have two older girls (not twins) and the first almost potty trained herself. The second still gives me trouble at times and she's already six. I had to practically force her to potty train when she was almost three and I was in my last trimester with the twins. I just could not have three of them in diapers! I set a schedule with her and she sat on the potty every hour. If she peed she could get up and if she didn't she sat there for five minutes before we got up. This only worked because I was home on bed rest and had the time to do this. The twins now though, even at age three, have only just started to understand what to do when they sit on the potty. They sit on it at regular intervals and will usually squeeze out at least a few drops so they get a treat but they are still often wetting their diapers and will refuse to sit on the potty to do poopy. Everyone says boys take longer than girls but at this rate I wonder if they will be in diapers going into kindergarten. Good luck!
