last night my 7 year son asked me if he can carry a puzzle or story book to school coz he feels bored after school waiting for his dad to pick him.
so i suggested play with ur friends who are also waiting for their parents..

he said "Mom 10 out of 19 students don't like me and are not my friends"
i asked him if he knows why they don't like him,
answer "they ignore me"
my next question, did u do anything that they ignore you..
answer "i forgot my poems at home", so they laugh on me when i have to sing the poem, they laugh on me when their drawing and coloring is better than me"

aaah.. i know my son is very bad in coloring and i teach him drawing and coloring, but he is still bad..its gonna take time

and my son is not so good in making friends, he is introvert and will prefer playing himself or reading a book.. but i want his classmates to like him, and he should make friends..

i told my husband to talk to his teacher to help him make friends, but he said, let him (our son) tackle things himself, stop helping him.. he should learn himself..

i could not sleep the whole night, thinking about the same.. need advise how to tackle this issue

I think the best course of action is to teach him how to be confident enough to interact with other children. Set an example by speaking to people you don't know out in public. At the park, in the grocery, or where ever strike up a conversation. It will show him that there is nothing to be afraid of in taking to other people. Build his confidence by telling him that he did a good job talking to someone else. encourage him to talk to the clerk at the store. Set up play dates with kids his age from your church. Sign him up for sports to increase his interaction with other kids.
