My 3 month old son is still waking up quite frequently through out the night and i would just die to be able to sleep for more then 2 hours at a time. I put him to bed between 6 and 7 every night...we have established a good bed time routine, after his bath he gets his night time lotion and cuddle time with mommy while he has his night time bottle (which is different from all his other bottles). He usually goes to sleep while hes eating and i have no problem transfering him in his crib where he will sleep for the first 4 hours....then wakes up to eat and then its every two to two and a half hours after that....once in a while 3....how do i get him to sleep longer? I am dieing over here!!!! O and in case it matters at all he is drinking 4 ounces at every feeding.....every two hours even all day long

If someone told you your baby should be sleeping through the night or for longer stretches of time, they lied. You will hear of quite a few babies that do sleep through the night at a young age (my 3rd started sleeping 12 hours at night at 2 months old), but if you ask around you will also hear of a chunk that don't sleep through the night until they are over a year old (both my older 2).
You can try to get him to sleep longer by waiting when you hear him begin to cry, wait about 5 minutes to see if he will calm himself and go back to sleep. Also if he doesn't really seem to be hungry try you can try just giving him a pacifier to see if just the sucking action puts him back to sleep.
My first was up every 1 to 1 1/2 hours for the first 14 months of her life and then one night she just started sleeping through the night. Keep up your routine and face it one night at a time. YOU CAN DO IT!

You have described my son's exact sleep pattern at that age. Eating every 3 hours except that on 4 hour stretch. Time will help. Don't do cry it out yet, his body chemistry is not physically ready to put himself to sleep that way yet (some say ok at 4 mo, others say older). If you decide to do the CIO when your baby is older, be sure that you go in and verbally reassure your child every few minutes until he finally falls asleep (look up Dr. Ferber to get the schedule) Don't just let him cry - it is too hard on both of you.
The best way to combat this, until your baby is older, is to take naps when you can and go to bed when he does (you'll get at least 4 hours of continuous sleep that way).
This can be a very hard time to get through, but you will get through it. Then you'll be looking back wondering if it was really that hard after all. :-)

I wasn't suggesting that you let him just cry-it-out, but it won't hurt him if you give him a minute to make sure he is really awake and really needs you. As mom's we tend to hear even the littlest sounds that our babies make and respond before they even really get a chance to cry (like we hear the little sniffling and small whines that come before the cry).

When we first brought our little man home from the hospital he slept in a bassinet right next to our bed. The bassinet had a vibrating system & low volume music system. For the first couple weeks he HAD to have it vibrating. Then after that he would just sleep in it until he got to big for it (my hubby is 6' 2"). We then began to put him in his crib (no vibrating system). He had a mobile w/ music and the projected pictures that we would turn on (he loved it, very soothing to him). I would give him a 4 oz bottle before putting him down for bed (he would fall asleep quite often before finishing it). He was waking up exactly 3 hrs after his bedtime feeding (he went to bed late sometimes b/c he would take LONG naps during the day). Therefor, one day I just increased his ounces in the bottle. He started sleeping the whole night. Then when he started waking up in the middle of the night again, I would increase the ounces again. Turns out he was waking up b/c he was hungry. Don't forget, babies have a way higher metabolism than you or I and they eat more and eat more often. When I increased his ounces it wasn't by alot, but instead by like one or one and a half ounces. Also, if he started dozing off during his last feeding I would tickle his feet or stimulate him somehow to try to keep him awake enough just to finish as much of his bottle as he could. After I figured this out, my little man was sleeping through the night from 1 1/2 mths old. He was never sleeping less than 6 hrs at a time. Now he is 9 mths and he goes to bed at 9 pm and wakes up at 7 am. I haven't gotten up in the middle of the night in 7 1/2 mths. Now I have done the let him cry it out method a few times. Just until he got used to the new bedtime method. It was hard for both my husband and I but we had the monitor and just remember as long as they are making noise they are ok. You're not being mean. Now I never left him crying in his bed for over 20 mins. but a baby crying doesn't hurt them. Mine has done a few cry it out times and he still loves my husband and I very much and he is an extremely happy and healthy little boy. I get compliments ALL the time on how happy he is.

my little man has woken up at 6:30 am sometimes and I hear him on the monitor...He lays in his bed talking to himself and cooing and ooing and he will kick the side of his bed sometimes....I don't go in and get him...If he's not crying he is ok...He usually falls right back to sleep and wakes up again around 8 am...Just b/c they are awake doesn't mean you have to run in and pick them up...

it is normal baby wakes up in every 2 to 3 hours for milk. My experience with my baby...I adjust the milk intake after 4 months. Besides, play more with my baby during day time, so that she could sleep more at night.
Here is also a good reference of how to make your baby to sleep through the night http://e711e4jhwtmltobf68vs6n3k16.hop.clickbank.net/?tid=1309YS0426

this may sound crazy but put him on the dryer for a little bit while your watching him and see if maybe the vibrations will help. if not then try some calming music or white noise. my three month old really likes it.

Babies like the vibration of the dryer or a car ride. I bought a Baby Roll Asleep that has that same vibration. I can sit in the dining room and roll him when he is colicky instead of having to stand in the laundry room or drive him around.
