My husband found a lump in my daughter's right leg tonight. It is a hard lump that doesn't move. She had her 2 month vaccinations about 3 weeks ago. I am hoping it is related to that. It doesn't seem to bother her when touched and she has been acting normal. We are going to the doctor in the morning. Has this happened to any of you? Could it be the shots? I feel sick to my stomach.....:(

Is the lump directly underneath the area that she had her shots?? If so, this is common - it happened to our DD after her 6 month shots and lasted several months (it got slowly smaller, then disappeared). We did check with her pedi to make sure.

Also, after DD had her MMR shot (15 months old), about 10 days after that the lymph node on her right groin was swollen (she had the shot in her right thigh). Again, took her to the doc and found out that is a common (1 in 7 kids) reaction to the MMR shot - swollen lymph nodes. I wish they had mentioned that to me at the time of the vaccination to prevent panic.

Let us know what happens and good luck!

We went to the doctor this morning. He says it's a sebaceous cyst--a benign growth. Super relieved! Thanks for your response BluLiner16!

Oh that's great news! There's nothing worse than worrying. Not sure what the doc told you about the cyst but just something to look for - I had one on my upper back for over 10 years (the docs said it's harmless, why remove it). Then it started having periods of being painful and inflamed - especially to the touch. And I mean VERY painful. They recommended removing it, which was somewhat invasive but healed up just fine and no further problems. Just something to watch for in case it seems like your daughter is experiencing pain where the cyst is - sometimes they get inflamed. Again - so happy for you that it was something harmless!
