I have twin girls who will be 4 near the end of the year. I have noticed one is more advanced than the other when it comes to her colors and letters. The one who is behind seems to piggy back off her sisters answers and gets very nervous when she is forced to do it alone. what can i do to help her?

First, remember that all children learn at their own developmental speed, even twins. I would enroll them into preschool, and put them into separate classes. Since it is only for part of the day they should not miss each other too terribly, and it will give them a chance to begin to learn their separate identity. It will also help you and the other adults learn what your struggling twin is good at. She might be very social or creative or warm hearted, etc. Try to find her good qualities and help her to see them too. When she struggles with her academics, remind her of what she can do well.
