I am sorry your having such a difficult time. Have you been discussing all these issues with your doctor? You really want to wait as long as you can before delivering. I had to deliver at 29 weeks due to health issues that were life threatning for me. My doctor was originally going to take by babies at 37 weeks. My babies went into NICU for 9 weeks. I saw babies in there that were 25 & 27 weeks and they had a very hard time. They say that 28 weeks is the magic number where the babies seem to do better IF they have to come then. Please call your doctor ASAP and let him know how you feel and all the symptoms you are having. He will want to see you I am sure. Please post again and let us know how all is going.

I had twins as well. We did an amniocentesis to check the babies lung development. I think that is the most crucial part with preemies. Luckily, we were able to stave off the delivery until 35 weeks with 2 mos. bedrest. Talk to your dr. and be prepared for the bedrest prescription.

I went to the doctor yesterday and i told them how i was doing.. They ran a test on me to see if there was a chance of my delivering early.. The test came back negative .They also told me my twins weight 2.5lbs n 2.11lbs , To make a long story sort I've been put on bedrest at home (Can only get up to go to the restroom and eat.) pain still sucks !! But I feel alot better now about my pregnancy after talking to my doctor. I'll do my best to post letting you guys know how thing are going.(ps) leave a small space for me in you guys prayers.....Thankz

You totally have my sympathy. In retrospect, nothing compared to the mind-numbing bedrest. I took up scrapbooking (hard to do while lying down) and knitting. Neither of which I have done since the twins were born. :)
With the weight estimations, I was sent to a perinatologist who did tons of complicated measurements, and in the end were totally off! So when the time gets closer and you worry the babies are too big or too small, just remember they haven't gotten it down to a perfect science yet.
Good luck!

I guess I was fortunate because I felt great my whole pregnancy. Never sick, never hurt. Although I think that kind of lulled me and the Dr into a kind of complacency. I started swelling at 25 weeks, feet and ankles but still felt great and all lab work and BP was ok. At 27 weeks it starting taking longer for the swelling to go down and it was working up my legs. At 28 1/2 weeks I called the Dr and said my legs were 3x normal size and they told me to come in. I had protein in my urine and was sent to hospital for observation. When I got to the hospital my BP was stroke level. It appears the nurse at the Dr office didn't take my bp properly. Long story short, I went in on Thurs, got steroid shot Thrus & Fri and they took my babies on Sat. They had no choice because my health was in danger. They told me the babies were not in danger, just me. they couldn't believe how good I felt becasue my BP was 190/110. I was suppose to have my childbirht class that day. lol I almost waited till Fri to go to Dr because I had a sugar test that day. They said if I had waited that they would have had to take my babies that day. That is why I said you needed to go to the DR ASAP.
My babies spent 9 weeks in NICU, but they are now home and doing very well. The weighed 2.o & 2.4 lbs at birth and they now weigh 11.2 & 11.5 lbs. They will be 5 months on Sept 12. Please do as your Dr says and it will postpone your delivery. The longer you go, the better for the babies.
You are in my prayers along with your babies. Be prepared, because your babies will most likely end up in the NICU if you deliver early. That is a scary situation, but if it happens, there are moms on here who have gone through that and we can give you encouragement.

You are in my prayers. Ask your doc if there is anything that you can have for the pain. I know that some drugs are impossible to take during pregancy but some are ok. Also i would ask about geting a steriod shot to help mature their lungs in case you do go early. Do everything that you can do to postpone the delivery. It is best for your babies I PROMISE. If you want to chat you can email me at heatherfay.martin@yahoo.com I'm online alot except when i'm taking care of my son, as I have nothing better to do...lol

I was pregnant with twins as well. At 25 weeks, I was hospitalized on strict bedrest because one of the twins wasn't progressing as well as the doctors had hoped. I spent 3 weeks in the hospital and then, at 28 weeks, the doctors told me I had to have an emergency c-section. At the time, I thought being in the hospital was awful and I was almost glad that they were coming out early. But looking back on it now, I would give anything to have been able to keep them inside me a few weeks longer. One of the twins (the one with the poor progression) tragically passed away at 5 days old due to an air embolism. The other twin spent 3 months in the NICU. This was probably the worst and hardest 3 months of my life and I would never wish it on my worst enemy. So even though you are in a lot of discomfort, unless you are having serious health problems because of it, try to stick it out as long as you can -- for your babies. You will be happy you did.
