View Full Version : How to cope with tiredness:

I'm constantly tired with taking care of my babies. One is 2.5 and the other is 1 years old. Sometimes I just want to get a babysitter and ask them to watch them for a hr or two so I can sleep. I don't work or anything. How do you parents keep with feeling tired with taking care of your baby or children?

Obviously, it is hard job - to be mom, escpecially if you have such little ones. Sometimes I feel the same and you have right thoughts about having baby sitter even for hour or two. YOU NEED some rest, as your 'mom's' job doesn't have weekends or holidays. I can tell you that you can feel better if you spend 1-2 hours for yourself (sleeping, walking, hairdresser, manicure). I used my relatives help, leaving kids with them. I should say that you fell really refreshed after such hours.
Your feeling absolutely normal and you need support, it can be you relatives or babysitter.

I agree, now that summer is here, you should have a neighbor kid who can babysit while you nap or get housework done. With you home, the kid can be fairly young - just entertaining.
I try to go to bed extra early every once in a while. I also try to go out and do things. I just started heading up a committee to build a special needs playground at a local school. It does take some juggling (and I have only 1 child) but the interactions with other adults and the "using my brain" to plan has really helped me to feel less tired.
Also, teach your children to play for a while without you. If you can get 15+ minutes with them playing blocks and you in the other room doing whatever, you might feel better.
So hire a sitter every once an a while to have some me time, but also join some sort of group that gives you a non-child outlet (even if your children join you, the non-child conversation will make you feel better).

I have a 3 1/2 yr old, 2 1/2 yr old, and a 5 month old so I can totally sympathize!
One of the best things you can do is get the kids to nap at the same time and nap with them (my oldest will only nap once in a blue moon, but when she does I get enough of a rest to really reboot myself). Another good option is to have lemon aromatherapy.
Also get checked for an underlying problem. I was so exhausted with my last pregnancy that there were times I literally couldn't keep myself awake. Every time I went to the doctor they just told me I was tired because I was pregnant and had 2 young children, but I convinced them to do blood tests. Because of that I found out I had thyroid problems. Once I started medication I was up and ready to go

My body just got used to not sleeping very well or at all! Yes, I would be tired but I kept telling myself you have to keep going. Last year my husband wasnt around for much of the year due to his job. So I was my daughters only care provider for all of the year! But when ever I got tired I tried to get her to lay down with me and watch and movie to see if she would nap with me for a little while!
