View Full Version : I Couldn't Be Pregnant...Could I???

I don't mean to be obsessive, but there's a small issue here in my bosy...ok, so this is weird...I've just joined and posted threads about how excited I am to start trying to conceive. Hubby and I decided to begin at the end of the year.
But here's the thing - my breasts are KILLING me. I've had a tiny bit of soreness as my period approaches in the past, but this is RIDICULOUS - I couldn't even run today at the track, had to walk a few extra laps to make up my usual trot. They've been like this since Friday. I'm really tired, too, but I'm ALWAYS tired hahaha!!!
My period should have arrived yesterday BUT my cycles have been pretty irregular for the past 2 or 3 years - so I don't know if I am late or just have breasts that are more sore than usual. I read an article today that sore breasts are listed highly on the most frequent early pregnancy symptoms. We CLEARLY we not trying, where I would have been counting and charting, etc., we didn't do anything different than usual (as far as I can remember LOL).
I think I will take a test tomorrow, just to be sure - I'd rather know. I'm not going to mention anything to my adorably clueless hubby until I find out either way. That way, if it's negative, he'll not have to worry about anything, and if it's positive...well, then I'll have to come up with a fun, creative way to tell him!!
I don't think I'm being crazy, but maybe I just have babies on the brain...

Well the sore breasts and tiredness are definite symptoms but it is always tricky to completely tell. Remember if you take a HPT it may come up negative but if the symptoms persist then try taking a second one about a week later (after missed period) since if you are preggers then the testing levels in your body are stronger. Good luck and let us know how it goes!!

It's just so weird, because I don't feel any different otherwise, just as if I was getting my period as usual - and no nausea or cramping - some back pain, but I usually attribute that to working out. I guess I had this romantic notion that I would just FEEL pregnant, if I was...but I would guess I'm probably not. I don't want to get excited, just to be disappointed, but this soreness is something that I have NEVER before experienced...I'll just have to see

Well, I can only tell you my experience. My dh and I were not trying so it was a suprise. I can tell you I didn't know what was going on. I didn't have sore breasts at all but I had some tummy cramps (like I was going to get my period), I also had bad back aches (I actually thought I had a kidney infection - lol) and was exhausted and moody. It was a relief to find out I was pregnant and not sick (haha). Oh and I mentioned the HPT test above and to take another if your symptoms persist because I had actually had a blood test that came up negative because it was too early to pick up the hormone levels (which is why I thought I was getting sick), I took a HPT about a week after I was supposed to get my period and found out I was pregnant.
BTW, I understand not wanting to get too excited yet, that is so normal. Just remember if you are not pregnant this time to relax and enjoy trying!

Yea - we weren't even trying :) I took a HPT this morning that read inconclusive - and I wasn't smart enough to buy the 2-pack. Sooo, I called my GYN and she told me to come in tomorrow for a blood test - and that is fine by me, at least I will have some semblance of an answer before the weekend (so I don't do anything foolish LOL).
Thank you for your advice...again, not too excited (though it WOULD be amazing), just want a FINAL answer. These threads are great - real advice from real people. Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Right - so the doc drew blood today. I'll keep everyone informed (for those who are interested :) ) Once again, trying not to be excited, because I don't want to be disappointed - it's amazing how much I want something that I hadn't planned on in the first place!!! But, if it didn't happen this time, we'll try again - that's the most fun part, right???

Can't wait to hear the results! :)
A good friend of mine had no other symptom other than sore breasts - wasn't even late on period. Turned out they were pregnant. I didn't have sore breasts at all, but it is very high on the symptom list!!
Keep us posted!!

Thanks for all of your kind words!
The doc just called me, my tests are negative, so I guess I just am having EXTREME pms LOL...the doc told me that the breast soreness can be attributed to high caffeine intake (which I am embarrassed to admit I am guilty of - a habit I desperately need to break pre-baby-making).
So, back to the drawing board - doc gave me a pre-natal prescription, and hubby and I will go back to our original plans of starting to try in December.
:) Thank you all again :)

Yeah, I didn't have the breast tenderness, but I was extremely tired, but I thought it was just because of my job, working at the Hard Rock Cafe (best job ever, btw, so much fun). Then I started to get a little nausea in the mornings, well, a bit more than usual. I figured I was either pregnant or my Hypoglycemia was acting up on me. Turns out, I was already 5 weeks in. So yeah, everyone is different, I didn't get all the symptoms they tell you that you will, and mine took quite some time to show up.
