Godmother Problems

I Have A Problem And I Know I Have To Solve It Very Soon. My Due Date Is Feb. 5th And I Have To Make The Decision Soon On Who Will Be Godmother To My Baby. I Am Stuck Between 2 People. My Sister And My Best Friend. My Sister And I Are Close But Can Be Closer And My Best Friend And I Are Very Close, Not To Mention She Did Introduce Me To My Husband. My Story Is "the True Cinderella Story "and If It Was Not For My Best Friend Who Set Us Up, Well You Get The Picture. Now Mind You, This Is My Second Child And The Godmother To My First Child Is My Cousin And Reason Being I Lived In Another State From My Sister And Our Relationship Was Not As Close At The Time. I Do Not Want To Hurt Anyone With My Decision And I Feel No Matter What I Decide To Do, It Will Hurt Someone. Help!!!

What you have to think about when deciding who will be the Godmother, is who is most likely to be a spiritual leader to your child. If you sister and her family attend church on a normal basis, then it should be her. If your best friends attends and practices religion more, it should be her. In my opinion, people select Godmothers for their child, based on how much they mean to them. Im not saying this is wrong, but the purpose of the Godmother is to provide spirital guidance and someone trusted to look to when she has questions regarding religion, especially when they are not comfortable asking a priest or mom and dad.

I selected my friend for my daughters Godmother, over my sister. The reason: My sister, although Catholic, doesnt practice. My husband, daughter, and I do. My friend was raised, baptised, and is active in her church. The true meaning of Godmother was important to us. We are happy knowing that if my daughter has questions, "Aunt" Megan (My friend) will help her.

I had the same problem. I had no idea who to pick. my sister, or the assistant manager where i worked, who became like a sister to me. So i picked both :)
ANd my sisters husband is my DS god father. In all reality if anythign were to happen to hubby and i, my family would take bubba, but my friend knows she's goign to ALWAYS be in his life.
