Did you consider syllables?

My husband and I are TTC and I have already started picking out names. We have a boy's name picked out that we both agree on , Lucien Grant and have a first name for a girl picked out, Sonnet. Both Lucien and Sonnet are two syllables and I can't decide if I like a one syllable middle name or mulitple syllables as a middle name. Grant is one syllable and I think it flows nicely with Lucien, but I like Elizabeth and Emilia for middles for Sonnet. My question: Did anyone else consider syllables when choosing a name? And I've also been told that first names and middle names that start with the same letters are big no-no's. Anyone else heard this?

IMO, it's your baby, so you should name him/her whatever you want, no matter what letters they start with. As far as syllables, We didn't go for a certain amount, it just had to "flow" when you say it. Our 3 sons names are William Thomas, Dane Allen, and Nicholas Raymond. So all 3 are different, but I think they sound nice. Of your choices, I personally like Sonnet Elizabeth, and your boys names sound good either way.

My sister considered syllables when coming up with name choices for her son. She was convinced that 2 syllables would flow best with their last name.

Hah! I immediately thought that Elizabeth would be great as a middle name before I even saw that you were considering it! Personally, I think anything will go with Sonnet. Just don't go with more than 4 syllables...poor kid will suffer forever...My kids are Maximos Alexander and Iris Leia Ann. No rhyme or reason to the syllables.
