Hello everyone. My 5 month old son hates cereal. Ever since I started feeding him solids about 2 months ago he has never liked it. At first I thought maybe he was just too young for solids and it gave him a belly ache so I backed off for a while. However, he is now eating fruits, vegetables, and we've tried rice and oatmeal. He cries and gets really mad when I try to feed it to him, even before we started the fruits and veggies. My husband took the cereal and instead of mixing it with formula mixed it with pureed veggies and fruit and he ate it up with out a battle. Is this okay to do? I know that it's reccomended to use it with formula or breast milk, but will he still get his nutrients this way?

Is he still taking the recommended amount of formula by bottle? If so, the nutrition isn't an issue; keep giving him the cereal in his fruits/veggies.

I really wouldn't worry about it much. My son hated his cereal therefore I just never gave it to him. The doctor's said he really doesn't need it anyways, hardly any nutritional value. He just went on eating his baby food and now he will only eat table food and he's doing fine.
