No period, but no positive test either

I'm so anxious. I feel pregnant and my period is late, but every test I take is negative. I saw my Doctor and he wants me to take a blood test in a week. I am going crazy! I want to get excited and start enjoying my pregnancy, but I can't until I know for sure. Has this happened to anyone?

I was 8 weeks pregnant before a test came back positive for my son. It was a frustrating time, but the frustration was quickly forgotten once we had confirmation that I was pregnant. Hang in there-it's hard not knowing!

I was estimated 20 weeks before I got my pos test result!!! I took home test after home test - I think 12 total - for months. Finally.. I was showing.. I was sick.. I could feel my baby moving! My hang up was that I didn't have health insurance at the time and in order for me to get on the state Medicaid I had to have a + home test in order to be seen at an OB and for the visit to be billed to Medicaid.
I had, what we expected to be, a vanishing twin - a miscarriage of one of two babies. I had a horrible bleed at about 4 to 6 weeks (which was right about when I would have had another period, so I didn't think anything of it other than it hurt really bad). We will never know for sure, but the theory was that my HCg level (which is what a home test reads) fell very low because I had miscarried the one baby so my daughter ended up "flying under the radar" for months until my hormones cought up.
I don't want to scare you at all with the twin thing... really... but that's my story and my daughter is perfectly healthy... sometimes tests just don't read well and hormones are funny things. Go with the blood test, it's coming up soon, then you can go from there.

ps - when I got pregnant again with my son I got a home test and it errored! FIGURES! Then I just took the other test that was in the box and it was pos. Only had test problems with that one pregnancy.

Thank you girls for your positive feed back. It is nice to know I am not alone and that things worked out well for you guys. I will continue to hang in there until I can take another test. Wish me luck!
