Would you buy a GPS tracking device pin for your child if it sold in Babies R Us for $50? It would be a pin or a pendant that you could stick on your child's backpack, jacket, or shoe. When your child is at school or out in public you could log onto a website to confirm their destination especially if they got lost or kidnapped. What do you guys think? Is this a product you would buy for your child?

That would be a great thing. For me at least. It would be a great tool in case my child got lost or kidnapped. For example, if he was 30 mins late, I could use this device to check where he's at and whether to panic or not.

Personely I would love it! I would pay even more. Not so much for my child but for the nephews! See my sisiter lives out in the country or as I like to say "so far that the sun doesn't even shine". lol I exaggerate a bit. but anyhow my sister can't take them to school or pick them up cause of her scehdule (husband out of town 80% of time) SO the neighbor that lives about four miles away picks up my nephews up on the way to the bus stop which is another 3 miles away in the middle of no where on the side of the street. The neighbor waits there for the bus to arrive. (she is suppose to atleast) but on numerous occasions the nieghbor has had to leave. When the kids get dropped off at three they all walk home, some take the back way (the forest) which scares the heck out of me. but in this case there is no win win situation, what is better the back way through the woods or the side dirt road? not even a sidewalk. I am worried someday they will get kidnapped.
I think that if the situation fits (like the ones TruBearJ and navy0317 talked about), some sort of tracking device is a great idea for younger kids. I like the S-911 offered by Adiant Solutions (adiant-solutions.com if you wanna check it out) because it's basically a GPS bracelet that works indoors, offers two-way communication, and looks like a watch.
But as your child gets older, I think it's a good idea to back off on the GPS tracking...freedom is the best way for young adults to learn how to become independent entities, not by being constantly watched by their parents.

I think it would be great under certain circumstances. As of right now I would not buy it, but if circumstances change then yes, I would buy it in a heart beat.
