Hey everyone.
My name is Amanda. I have a wonderful husband and a 4 year old DD. I am expecting #2, after a miscarriage in April of 2008. I am very excited, and we are hoping for a boy, to even out the score in our house.

I am definately showing and wearing maternity clothes. I cant believe how much bigger I am, than I was with baby #1. I have not gained any weight yet, but Im sure that this is coming. I am ALL belly right now.

I crave salt, fruit, apple juice, and Chicken Wings with Ranch (weird I know).

Anyone else out there?

i'm almost 18 weeks. In some clothes, you can REALLY tell, in others, not so much. I'm craving sour things, mostly. This is my first baby. We're hoping for a boy, but will be just as happy for a girl too!

Have you been sleeping well? I've been trying so hard to sleep on my side, but it's tough.

Hi Amanda! Congrats on your 2nd :) I'm around 15 weeks with my first.. I was already pretty heavyset, so I can't tell if I'm showing yet (and I'm afraid to ask anyone else, really.. lol). I haven't had any strong cravings yet, apart from constantly wanting to drink orange juice or eat oranges. And, Brit - I'm having a hard time with side-sleeping.. I keep wanting to kind of lay on my stomach more than my side. Argh!

Congrats to everyone. Wishes for happy and safe pregnancys
I am just now having trouble with sleeping, I just cant get comfortable. I am normally a belly sleeper so I have to consciously try to sleep on my left side. Its not an easy task. Since I am going into my 16th week, it now gets important because of the blood flow.

To juststardust, sounds like you are having cravings, orange juice is a common craving. With my DD I craved only tomatoes. I ate them raw, cooked, in sauce, etc. It didnt matter, as long as I was eating tomatoes. As far as showing, It takes longer to show with your 1st, than it does your second. Something about your body knowing what to do. I didnt start showing with my DD until I was about 6 months along. This one started right away. You will know because your pants/shorts will start to feel snug and you will have a hard time zipping up. When this happens, your baby is showing (Yeah!!!!) Since I am on round two, please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Since I dont know you, dont be afraid to ask the gross stuff either. It is better than a face to face I think.

This is still a salt baby. We have now discovered Salt and Vinegar potato chips. Yuck but MMMM. I am trying to watch my salt intake, because I know that I am craving it, and it isnt good for me, but I love those chips.

What about weight gain. The doctor said I that I have not gained any weight. How is everone else doing?

Well, I lost 13 pounds the first trimester because I was sick and I went on a diet for gestational diabetes. I was overweight before I got pregnant, and I was scared to death that I would get the diabetes. The doctor said if I was that worried, we could go ahead and start the diet to prevent it. SO... I lost 13 pounds. Since the last doctor's appt, I've gained 2 pounds back. My next doc appt is Wednesday. I'll be 19 weeks, and I wish they would check the gender, but they said not until next time. Booger faces.
I'm definitely showing, but not a whole lot. I'm sure within the next month or so I will be showing a lot more.

I finally watched a delivery video this weekend (something I've been putting off). When I was in High School, they made us watch one in health class and it freaked me out. I guess the years that have passed since then have helped, because it wasn't NEARLY as bad as I remembered.

Hi lena241, congrats!! I'm pregnant with my first and due 1/7/08. Like brittnee I have been craving sour!! I can't get enough of sour patch kids (although I try not to eat them by the handful for fear my teeth will rot out - lol). I also crave salty (I love salt and vinagar chips.....oh they taste so good but soooo much sodium)....Why can't I crave broccoli or something healthy?!?!

Britnee, you are a brave woman to watch a delivery video, I am avoiding that at all costs right now! :-)

haha...thanks! I told my husband last night that if I didn't watch it eventually, I would just flip out more and more as it got closer. It really wasn't THAT bad. I still don't want anyone in the room except my husband. My Sister in law had her mom in there, so (of course) my husband's mom expects to get to be in there with us, too. Negative. I'd rather die. haha. Seriously, though... it's all OUT there. Are any of you having your family members in the room?

My hubby's family all live out of state and my family is about an hour away so most likely it will be just the two of us (which is fine). My dh comes from a big, close-knit family so if they lived near us there would be about 20 people wanting to be in the room! (I dont' think so!!)

Hey

Gostomskiart: I havent tried the Sour Patch Kids, but Im going to. Sounds yummy. Have you tried Lemon Heads (Be careful not to eat too many, your tongue will get raw)
Still going strong with the cravings. Salt and Vinegar chip craving is fading, thank God. My jaw hurt from eating those things.

Its weird because I usually dont eat alot. I feel like all Im doing is stuffing my face. I told my DH that this is definately his child because all the "Fat Child" wants to do is eat. Honestly, I dont know how I havent gained any weight, its almost ridiculous. The girls at work were laughing at me today because I have been eating soo much.
I am only 5'2" and pre-pregnancy I weighed 118-122. I am not a big person by any means. I just dont get it. Why is this child sooo hungry?????

I have also been watching deliveries, but the ones on Discovery Health channel. They dont show all the gross stuff, but I have been thru this before. The bad thing is, I dont remember if it hurt. My mom says that this is normal.

My next appointment is 8/27/08. I will schedule my ultrasound for the 1st or 2nd week in September. I want a Boy, but I think its another Girl (ahhhh)

*** Lets take a poll and see who is right and who is wrong. What do you think your having???? **

I say Girl for me

Hi Lena241, Oh I know what you mean about eating candy till your tongue is raw - lol. I am also not very big but can't get enough to eat. Maybe it has something to do with how much a baby takes from you (and if we are small to begin with then our bodies are telling us to eat more). My dh laughs at me cuz all I do is eat (then complain that I'm stuffed) then eat more (haha).

My ultrasound is this fri and we are finding out the sex. I've been thinking it is a boy so we'll find out soon! DH says if the baby is hiding and won't let us see the sex then we can get one of those 3d ultrasounds (hopefully we will find out this time though!) I'm so excited :-D

gostomskiart -- I was so frustrated with my OB because I think my U/S for the gender should be TOMORROW. I'm 19 weeks... They're making us wait until 24 weeks, though. I'm going to go to this radiography place to get my ultrasound done next week. I'm not waiting a whole nother month. I can't. =)

Lena: I think I'm having a boy. That's probably just because I want a boy. haha.

Hi everyone! I will be 18 weeks tomorrow. I am pregnant with my third child. I am a bit paranoid because at 15 weeks, I started bleeding. I bled for a day. I went to my doctor who examined me. I got an ultrasound and thank god everything was ok. I was told that I had a blood clot. I have two girls. I will go on the 25th of august to get an ultrasound, I will be 20 weeks that week.
Lately, I have had the hardest time sleeping. I have back pains which do not allow me to sleep well. I am constantly turning right left etc. Any suggestions?

it's nice to meet you, sony168! I'm glad everything turned out okay a few weeks ago, but it sure stinks that you're having some difficulty. This is my first pregnancy, so I'm definitely NOT an expert. The only thing I can think of is stretches. I was having a little bit of back pain about 2 weeks ago. I started stretching in the mornings and after work (I'm a loan officer, so I sit at a desk ALL DAY) and it really has helped a lot. Other than that, what about a nice massage from husband?
I have been having trouble sleeping, but it's because I'm so used to sleeping on my tummy that side sleeping doesn't let me fall asleep as easily!

Just a little update.. had my first ultrasound today, found out that rather than 14.5 weeks, I'm at 16 weeks 4 days :) My little human bean was waving to me and wriggling, heard the heartbeat and it was just AWESOME. This is my first, and today is the first time that it's really seemed real.. in spite of the tell-tale morning sickness, positive urine tests, and cravings and gaining weight; today it's REAL. I'm so happy, and just wanted to share!! A funny detail, my due date is different now, too.. it's for January 23, which is hubby & my 10th anniversary. It's not diamonds, but it'll definitely do :D

juststardust, I know what you mean, when I heard that heartbeat it became real too! It is so amazing, my hubby said the first time we heard it that I was grinning like a chesire cat :-)

Juststardust:
I agree. I had miscarried in April, so when I went in for my ultrasound at 6 weeks, it made me feel so much better. It am due on 1/22/08, so we are a day apart. I am now 17 weeks. I felt the baby move last night, just a flutter, but it was definately a movement. It was kinda exciting, but scary at the same time. I cant believe I am already feeling movement with this baby. It took forever for me to feel my daughter move.

Gostomskiart: I think that it might have something to do with it. My husband and yours sound just the same. My Dh cannot believe what can be " packed back", as he calls it. I have been keeping track and I am seriously hungry every (2) hours. This isnt your normal, I need a snack, this is I could eat another meal hungry. Im not gonna complain, as long as all this eating doesnt catch up to me.

Brittneeskidmore: I am also having trouble sleeping. I try very hard not to sleep on my back, but my husband wakes me up at least 2x a nite to tell me I am sleeping on my back (This is frustrating in itself, why isnt he sleeping????) I go back to my left side, but just wake up on my back again. I tried to put pillows around me, but that doesnt help. I just wake up in 2 hours and need to move them around, because some random body part has fallen asleep. If you come up with an genius ideas that actually work, please share. i could really use a full night of sleep.

Welcome Sony: Jump right in and start complaining, thats what we are here for. Glad you decided to join us, and congrats to you!!!!

Hi everyone, well I found out Friday I'm having a girl!! She was moving all over the place (although I haven't felt that yet). I think knowing has made it even more exciting, now I can call the baby by her name and actually look at pink girly stuff instead of yellow and green (lol).

I'm due January 26th, so I'm at week 17 now. This is our first baby but I'm already wearing maternity clothing. I couldn't zip any of my pants up anymore!

I haven't particularly had any cravings. I mean, not constant ones. Every so often I'll decide that I absolutely must have...something. Once it was chocolate chip cookies. Another time it was Cheddar Bites (like mozzarella sticks only with cheddar). I eat a ton more than I used to. At least it feels that way. But so far I've only gain 6 lbs.

My doctor's office doesn't do the ultrasound, I have to go to the hospital for it. So I should be getting that done in about 3 weeks. I need to call about the appointment. Supposedly the nurse at my OB's office will set it up. My husband wants to go with me so I need to figure out when it is so that we can make sure he is available.

I've already heard the heartbeat twice. Both times it has been 145 beats per minute. The second time they did it the little peanut kept moving around and they had to keep moving the doppler in order to find the heartbeat again. Unfortunately I couldn't feel the peanut moving around.

My husband has a feeling that the peanut is a boy. My mom agrees with him. I don't necessarily have a "feeling" either way. Since I already have a step-daughter, having a boy would be fine with me. But having a girl would be great too. :) I'm not really picky. My mom has been buying baby clothing already. Most of it is yellow & green (gender neutral) but some of the things that are supposed to be non-gender specific look awfully boy-ish to me.

I am so excited about having my ultrasound. I cant believe all of you have already had them, and know what your having....Im jealous, Ill admit it. I dont go back to the doctor until the 27th for my normal OB appointment, and the nurse said they would schedule my ultrasound after that appointment. I hope they dont make me wait until my next 4 week exam. I will be crushed.

My DH has now decided that this baby is a Boy. We already have a DD (who is 4) and he says he refuses to be out numbered even more. I told him to pray boy!!!!
I have no mother instinct about what sex this baby is. I wish I had an ultrasound machine at home!!!!!

Well I had my doctor appointment and I gained 2 lbs. I am now at 128. The doctor says I am measuring correctly. We did hear the heartbeat which is always reassuring to me. I thought that I would get an ultrasound next week, but he is making me wait until my next months appointment on 9/24/08. I guess patient is key in this whole thing. The only good news is the baby is post-terior so we wouldnt be able to see right now anyways. Maybe he will turn around by my next appointment.

How is everyone doing??????

Hi lena241, I'm so glad your appt went well! I have one coming up on Thurs. then another ultrasound to see the face. The dr's actually scared me with that one because they said parts of the first ultrasound were inconclusive. I'm probably worrying over nothing but still, it is hard not to. On the up side, I feel the baby a lot now and my hubby was able to feel my belly twitch a few times the other night so that was really exciting for him! I love feeling her move, it is definitley reassuring, just like hearing the heartbeat!

Glad the appt went well. It stinks to wait!! I know what you mean!! I'm so afraid that we're going to go in next week (the 10th is my 'anatomy' appt) and they're going to say, "oh wait, it's a BOY!" after I bought girl stuff! I guess I could sell it, though.
We went to another clinic to find out the gender before the doctor would tell us b/c I didn't want to wait any longer. I know it's terrible to be so impatient with it, but I wanted to know!!
gostomskiart--we're almost 22 weeks. Can you believe it? It seems like it's going by so fast, but at the same time, i want it to be here!!

My husband is in the AF and we found out that we'll be moving at some point, we just don't know if it will be before or after the baby is born. I'm desperately hoping it's before. Did I mention before that I'm slowly beginning to hate where I work?!?

=)
Did everyone have a good labor day?

LOL, brittnee, it is too bad we don't live closer because I swear we have parallel lives! It is crazy that we are almost 22 weeks, it is like you count up to 20 weeks and now it feels like the count down (scary and exciting). My hubby and I are currently in a 1bedroom apt and looking to buy a house. I don't know if that will be before or after the baby either so I know the feeling of hoping it is before. I would like to have that "nesting" time before and get settled. And speaking of jobs..ugh...I can't stand mine! I'm a graphic designer, the place I work doesn't have a lot of room for creativity, plus there is not much to do so I'm bored and I hate being bored! Not to mention the people here are not that friendly. I shouldn't complain too much because I'm leaving in Nov. to be a SAHM for awhile, still, you should see me on Fri. I'm so happy because the week is over then Mon. morning rolls around and I look like I've been punished severely (lol).

Will you be moving far?

Hello everyone and congrats! Im due on jan 25 with my second and very excited because i had my ultrasound last week and it came out it a was a boy!! I have a 6 years old daughter athough she wanted a girl and she is very sad about it, i have to say that im a little bit concerned because she said she doesnt want a baby and the she is going to hurt him when he arrives, thats why i think is better not to wait that much to have your second. This baby wasnt really planed, but i love him since the day i knew i was pregnant, but my daughter is sooo jealous Im really scared. Please give me some advice. Good luck to you all!!!!!

Hi keniapaez, congrats on your baby boy!! It sounds like your daughter is venting her disappointment right now. As you prepare for your son I would make sure to include her (especially if she shows an interest) with fun things like decorating the babys room/area, picking out baby supplies etc. Does she like dolls? Maybe (when you are further along) picking out a baby doll so you both have "babies". Also, books are great, I would research or ask a librarian what childrens books deal with the arrival of a new baby then you can read it together. I hope these suggestions help and that your daughter gets more accustom to the idea of a boy rather than a girl.

Ty gostomskiart, Im trying to do those things, fortunaly my daughter is getting more ecxited about having a baby brother. I think she will be better later on as she gets used to it. Sometimes she cries and tell her dad that we are going to love the baby more than her and he told her that is not like that , we love them both the same way.So , how are u doing? are you sleeping better? how much weight have you gained? its getting close. Im So excited, i cant wait to meet my baby boy!!!!!!

09-08-2008, 09:15 AM
keniapaez, I'm glad to hear your daughter is warming up to the idea of having a brother. Something I thought of, you can tell her how special she is (being the first born) and just make sure to give her some extra special attention time when the baby is here.

I'm doing great, I've gained about about 15lbs so far, sleeping with lots of pillows (lol) and trying not to give into every "bad" craving I have! My hubby and I are also starting the process of house buying so just another added crazyness to my list!

Hey guys.
I had my OB appointment on 9/24/08. The ultrasound tech and the doctor are 80% sure it is another girl. They couldnt give a 100% because the cord was bunched up between the legs....AHHH!
We are picking girl names for now, and are hoping to have another ultrasound. Does anyone remember of they do another one before you deliver? I had my DD 4 years ago and had a "special" pregnancy so I had a few more than what is usually given.
The nurse is also saying that the baby is about 1 week behind and pushed my due date back until the 29th of January, but she also said the baby is 1 lb, and that is what it should measure weight wise for the 24th week, which would be on target with my original due date of 1/22/09.
