my son is 11 months old and he spits up quite a bit, his doctor said he has to grow out of it, but ive noticed he doesnt do it as severe if he eats solid foods. im just wondering what i should feed him cause i know he still needs the nutrients in the pureed food so i figured if i mixed and fed him the baby food and let him eat solids it would help let me know if you think its a good idea and what i should feed him

Try mixing the rice or oatmeal cereal with the pureed foods, it gives it a thicker consistency and should help him keep them down.

Most babies can handle some finger foods starting at 8 months. My baby fed himself completely starting at 11 mo (he refused to be spoon fed -wasn't my choice :-) ). Look at these posts I wrote a while ago. They have food ideas that I used with my baby at 11 mo. Do keep your doctor informed of spitting up, especially if it is frequent. But I wouldn't be too worried. The 13 month old I baby-sit spits up milk about once a week still.

Pureed foods don't have any more nutrition than homemade foods. Do note, when your child eats more solid food he will seem to eat less, because pureed food has a larger amount of water in it, so less solids has the same calories as more pureed food.
Also, check out www.wholesomebabyfood.com Lots of good advice, and think about trying to make at least some of your own baby's food. It is as easy as cooking something and then mashing it. And lots cheaper than buying baby food.
Best wishes
