We are trying to get our daughter used to falling asleep in different places, in preparation for our first vacation this year. Our daughter is two and wakes up sometimes at night just crying for no apparent reason. Also, we've tried sleeping in a tent at a campsite and at home and she woke up around 12:30 am, and couldn't be consoled for awhile. Any help?

waking up in the middle of the night may be nightmares or night terrors if she seems inconsolable. I feel for you, we were suppose to go on vacation for the 1st time. Recently we slept at my mothers. Jade went to bed 4 hours later then her bedtime, passing out in her daddy's arms. Woke up twice crying, then woke up at 6am refusing to go back to bed. Needless to say we canceled our vacation.
Try sleeping in another room of your house, this way she's still in a familiar surrounding but it's different as well. If that goes well then take her to a motel, camping, families house whereever. Try to make it as homey as possible. Stuffed animals, maybe a picture she likes to look at that you can hang up, your own bedding that has been slept in, hell even a room deodorizer if you use one.

If that works start taking things away little by little, the pic would probably be the least missed. Though the bedding & stuffed animal(s) may have to stay.

Hope it works for you, my nerves are still to jarred to try out my own ideas lol.

We just recently went on vacation with our 19 month old daughter. She has never slept anywhere other than our home. While on vacation she would not nap or go to bed without being in our bed. I was so worried that it would mess her up because she sleeps so well at home in her own room. When we got home she was fine. You just may have to have her sleep with you while you are on vacation. Good luck!!!
