Should i get a second opinion?

I just can't believe it.
I took my nephew to the dentist today because he always complains his teeth hurt when he eats hard foods and then he got an abscess. which also freaked me out.

I just cant believe what his parents have let happen to him, Im 21 and have never had a cavity, i drank soda all my life, ate candy everything, had braces too.

this kid is 7 yrs old, has had cavities since hes had teeth, never really brushed his teeth, and now come to find out he has like 4 back teeth that need to be pulled.

The dentist said its most likely due to not brushing and that his parents gave him way too much juice soda and junk food.

I had his mom take him to the dentist inIL indec but apparently all they did was clean his teeth and said hes fine.

I took him here and he needs 4 teeth removed ( they are baby teeth) but the point is hes getting tooth abscess because his teeth are bad, and you can get sick and die from abscess cuz after a while it attacks tissue./

I expected him to need caps or sealing or something but pulling out teeth!

I am just in horror and shock, so glad he is with us so we can fix it.

we have a month b4 the appointment, should i seek a second opinion?

If it needs to be done...plus at his age it's probably best to get them pulled instead of being capped. My son was only 3 and he had 10 cavities. I always regulated his candy intake, NEVER give him soda, and brushed regularly. It really just depends. Turns out my son's teeth's undoing was all the chocolated milk he drank. But because he was so young they capped them. We were worried because they said depending on the decay they MIGHT have to pull them. Luckliy, they didn't. Seeing your nephew is in the stage he's going to start losing teeth just pulling them would be quicker than having to deal w/ capped teeth that are just going to fall out in a year or so anyways.
