My daughter is three and a half years old and is very mature for her age. Although I can't get her to sleep through the night by her self. She wakes up at least two or three times. She will walk to my room and whine or cry for me to come lay with her. I take her to her room and lay with her until she falls back to sleep. I then go back to my room. Its not more than 2-4 hours later that this whole process repeats itself. I really don't know what to do. I don't know what is causing her to wake up or how to get this habit to break. Please help me.
Mom that needs her sleep in Indiana.

Wow! I'm sorry, I have no ideas, but I can tell you that you aren't the only one. My son will be four and he wakes up in the night to have my husband put him back to sleep. If I find any helpful advice (like from his early childhood specialist) I'll let you know.

I don't know if this is the same type of problem I had with my 14 mo old daughter, but I found that as hard as it is, let her cry. It took my husband a while to do it... he kept caving and putting her in bed with him until she fell asleep. That just made it worse... she actually woke up more often. So a few tough nights later, she's gotten much much better. (we would monitor her cry and make sure its just the "usual" cry. If it changes, then we will go in to make sure everything is OK). Its working.... now she sleeps more nights then not (I probably just jinxed myself for tonight!). The sooner you do it, the better... the older they are the harder it will be. If the problem is your dd is coming into your room, you could try a gate on her door. Maybe even set up a tent or sleeping bag in her room w/ her favorite stuffed animals and dolls, and let her sleep there. If you try this and it works, please let us know! :-)
