Ear Thermometers

We have the "Safety 1st" ear thermometer. I don't know about all of it's better qualities, but it is a thermometer nonetheless..

i have found that the ear thermometers really don't work very well. when ever i have used one i will get a different reading everytime and compaired to a rectal thermometer it is always 2-3 degrees off and i have an expensive thermoscan. if i call my doctor about a fever they always ask for a rectal temp and agree that the ear thermometers don't really work very well.

vicks makes good thermometers
i belive the screen changes colors to tell you wether its normal or not as well as the degree

I use the Braun ThermoScan and I noticed it is also a couple of degrees off from the real temperature. If I suspect a fever, I take his temp from the ear first, and if it comes back high, I take it rectally for the real temp. Rectal thermometers are the most accurate.
