Getting off the pill & becoming regular

I got off of the pill 3 months ago and my periods have not been regular...I am aware this could happen, but how long should it last? My first period after the pill was very very light (but came on time) this month it took DH and I by surprise and was 4/5 days early. I'm also having really intensified side affects (worse cramps and back pain than usual).

If my periods aren't regular yet, does it mean I'm still not ovulating and can't conceive yet? How long has it taken you til you were regular after you got off the pill?? I'm so used to knowing when my period will come, basically to the day since I was on the pill, that this is really annoying!

The nice thing about the bc pill is it truely does make your periods so "regular" that you can practically set your watch by them, at least I could. Before I got on the pill my periods were never that regular, and when I got off, the first month it came around the same time, but the next month was a few days early too. I was pregnant by the third month, so to answer your question about ovulating, no, just because your periods are not regular does not mean that you are not ovulating. My OB told me that it normally takes about 3 months for the pill to get out of your system, and may take 6 mos. to a year to conceive after being on the pill for so long, but I was pregnant by the 3rd month, so it definitely happened a lot quicker than I thought. I have a friend who got off the pill and was pregnant two weeks later, so you never know. Good luck!

Call your doctor. I got pregnant the first month that I was off birth control, so I never had a period off of it. I would think that after three months it should be relatively regular, because it only takes a maximum of two weeks for the birth control to be out of your system. It should not take long after that for your body to figure itself out. I would ask my doctor if it was me.

Ive been off BC since Sept 09 after being on it for 5 years.... still no baby yet though...
