What kind do you have? Who takes care of them.

I have a 3 year old beagle (spoiled house dog, not for hunting lol) and 5 Angel fish.

The dog is mine, but the boys feed him and hubby or #1 son will clean up after him in the yard - I just don't do poop. lol I do the bathing, grooming, and make sure he gets his medicine (flea stuff, heart guard).

As you already know, I have a two and a half year old Shih Tzu, and my husband has a four year old Siberian Husky.
For the most part I take care of them both. When he's home he feeds them and plays with them, but everything else is my job. :)

We had 2 yorkshire terriers... One, Santa is two yrs old (same age as our daughter,) our other yorkie, Bubble, just passed on New Years day, she had just turned 15yrs old (I had her since she was born.) We miss Bubs terribly, but we're also very happy to have given her such a wonderful life. My daughter still hasn't realized she is gone, and when calling the dogs will walk around and scream "scanta, bub-bub." Brings a tear to my eye.

We also have two parakeets, Sid and May. Which my daughter is completely smitten with. She has a very strong and odd fascination for birds, lol.

We have a cat (about 11 or 12 years old) that is my DH's from bachlorhood. He does EVERYTHING for the cat. She only likes him and pretty much hisses at anyone else. My 18 mo old daugther tells us that the sound the kitty makes is HSSSSSS.

We also have 2 papillons (dogs about 8lbs and 10lbs) that are about 4 and a half and 5. DH walks them for the most part unless the weather is nice enough to take my DH with us...then we go together or I take them with her. At the moment he also does all their feeding because we feed them raw diet and I am trying not to handle their food (pregnant). They are scared of DD, but one will play with her. She still hasn't gottent he whole gentle thing down.

We have a 2 year old tabby cat named Jingles, she seems to favor me over everyone else. She is the queen around here lol. I take care of her litter and water and grooming, the kids take turns feeding her and giving her treats. We also have a 5 1/2 foot Ball Python named slick, my husband has had it since he was in high school. this is the most low matienence pet. We clean out his bedding once a week. and I usually feed him once a month. I go to the local pet store and buy 1 jumbo sized live rat and just drop it in his cage, slick does the rest lol. grooming...um no fur lol easy care for him and the kids adore him. he is very docile.

My BIL has a 10' Burmese Python. He has had him for close to 20 years. Anyhoo, he gets fed 3 rats at a time about once a month. He will poo out the rats in the same order they are given to him. For example brown rat given first, when white, then gray. The poop will be brown, then white, then gray. Really odd to me. lol

"I personlly don't clean the barn, hubby does as it is beneath me to shovel poop!" by big-moth-burgher

What type of pets do you keep in the barn?

We have a couple of German Shepherds to guard the livestock. They only come in the house on winter nights. We have a pregnant goat and ewe for 4-H projects. They have been worked with enough that they consider themselves as dogs. Captain is our very loyal barn cat, a stray nobody wanted but us. Their loss= our gain. Some people might not consider the horses as traditional pets, I suppose- but my "Z" is a big sweetheart. My teenage daughter certainly considers her mare to be a pet as well. My husband has his heart set on getting a Pomeranian, but we will wait until there are no longer toddlers in the house.

I never said we keep pets in the barn. We live on a farm. Beef cattle are what is kept in the barn, they are dinner not pets!

Quite sorry to have mistaken you then. I didn't know anybody kept beef cattle in a barn. Around here, they are on the range. The only cows that get barn privilege are the milk cows. The barn would have to be enormous to house enough beef cattle to make any sort of profit. You must live in a very different part of the country.

I live in the north and my cattle are not for consumption of anyone other than family. We don't have an enormous heard and they are kept in the barn durning the nights when it is well below freezing, which is common here.

If you'd take the time to know people, instead of just assume that you know them, you wouldn't have problems like this.

DCroberts - You are a moron. Remember when I told you that you sound more ignorant every time you post? Its still true. Stop trying to be such a cocky *****, its not working in your favor. Its just backfiring, making you look completely moronic and snotty like a 12 year old.

Big Mouth - Don't even bother defending/explaining yourself to this idiot. Its not worth the time.

I didn't realize we were having a problem. I didn't realize that asking you what type of pet you kept in your barn would cause any stress. Our sheep are eventually processed for food, but we do consider them pets in the interim. We experience extremely cold winter weather as well, as is common in cattle country. As I have still never seen anybody put a "herd" of cattle in a barn, I was merely hoping you had some type of pet that might be interesting to hear about.

No stress, you're just very bigoted and think that you know it all about everything and I find that extemely annoying, so please ignore any of my posts in the future. If you choose not to I will have to take action. Moron.

Take action. I should not have to ignore somebody who puts me down EVERY time I post. My CHILDREN are too mature to use the type of language and name calling that you use on a PUBLIC forum. If you like, I can point out about 4 glaringly hypocritical and inconsistent things written by you in the last 2 days.

When I shut my big mouth and walk away, it doesn't mean that you've won. It simply means that your stupid @$$ isn't worth any more of my time!

Actually, hypocrite, this was Big Mouth's thread. YOU posted on IT trying to start a pointless argument with HER. So this had nothing to do with HER responding to YOUR posts. For someone so 'mature' I wouldn't have expected you to play the 'revenge' card.

Pythons do seem to live forever and poop the color rats they eat lol kinda gross but hey, who am i to judge nature lol. We live in Western NY and my Dad also keeps beef cows that are for primarily the family. I live in the city but my dad lives in the country about a half hour away from my house at any given time he keeps two cattle. The ones he has currently are name Chuck and Sir Loin lol cute i know. BUT he also keeps them in a barn due to weather conditions. In the summer, he lets them roam in a fenced area but yeah people do keep their cows beef and milk in barns. Freezer burn isnt tasty lol.

Wow. Do you mean she actually saw this post, went back to the other one, copied the quote about the barn, came back over here, and posted it to try and prove big mouth was being contradictory? HAHA! That is really funny! Thanks for the laugh after a very long day!

Please dont try and act like you were asking a harmless question when you questioned her about the barn. You knew damn well that was going to stir it up. Lol - funny thing is, as much as you may like to think you are showing that big mouth has discrepancies in her posts, there are some of us on here who know each other very well. I can assure you, if there are discrepancies it is because you dont know the whole story - the gray area is filled in on another forum :) I guess you havent earned the privilege to know about the gray area.

I agree with you H.Starr - she is def playing the revenge card - very mature.

So to answer the original question - I have a chihuahua who is 4 years old...or is it 5? Anyway, hubby usually walks him and feeds him. We made an agreement that he would walk the dog and take out the trash and I would do the laundry lol. I hate walking the dog and he hates laundry. Perfect.

I fail to see how asking someone what pets they keep in their barn can be construed as controversial. That is where my most beloved pets reside, and we might have had something in common.
Everything else I said was due to the irritation I felt at the comments following my inquiry.

Ok, let me break this down for you. Under normal circumstances, that question wouldnt be controversial, but when you copy and paste something from an ARGUMENT, you are bringing it back up. Especially since the reply to that original message was argumentantive as well. I assumed that was common sense. You dont bring up something from an argument that we are trying to move on from and expect someone not to defend themselves. Maybe you were not meaning to be controversial, but it did come across that way. Especially since you pointed out that big mouth had inconsistencies, that just proved that you copied and paste that to try and point out an inconsistency. Which is not cool considering that Big Mouth is a respected member on this forum. Not a troll or a pedophile.

And just to break down another forum ettiquite remark - YES, if someone puts you down every time you post YOU SHOULD IGNORE THEM. DUH. Why would you continue to converse with them if you already know they are going to put you down?

Lastly - YOU are the one who brought something up from another argument onto THIS thread. She said it was annoying, and you keep going on and on about it. Lets leave this bs in the other thread please.

Big Mouth - I am sorry if we have taken over your post, but I could not help myself to reply to this brainiac.

We have a 6 year old Boston Terrier named Daisy, who my daughter loves! Daisy was her first word! We also have 2 siamese mix cats, Dante and Chloe, who I inherited from an old roommate who decided they didn't want them anymore, nice right? We also have about 10 fish. My daughter knows how to pet gently, but only does it once or twice and then grabs the cats by the tail or smacks the dog in the face. Poor animals! No wonder the cats run when she comes around them. The dog sortof just accepts it.

Dogs are the best! We currently only have a fish named Fred but my parents have a chocolate lab. Dutchess is the best dog, she will let the kids crawl all over her, pull her tail and ears, even take food out of her bowl when we aren't fast enough to stop them. And they have ridden her. She is the most gentle dog with my kids and my niece and nephew. Now we're trying to teach the kids that not all dogs are that way. The tend to try to run up to strange dogs and pet them, it's a work in progress.

And would these pets be the ones that you eventually eat? To me, that's strange. Very strange.

To answer the original question, We have three dogs and a cat. Our oldest is Sophie, she is a pom/chi mix and will be 10 this year. Next is Buddy. He is a beagle/dalmation/??? mutt who is 6. Next is Corky. Corky is 100% basenji. He is 5. Our kitty is almost a year old. He an orange tabby, his name is Mickey and he is my dream kitty.

Oh yea, I haven't been around much to read any of your posts dc. But, I can say that I saw the one where you insulted BM for it being beneath her to pick up poop. I had to laugh because she was being silly. Most marriages consist of compromises and apparently she and her husband have compromised a situation where she doesn't have to pick up poop in the back yard or barn. It would be the same here. I don't like picking up poop either. But, when it comes to MY CHILD'S diaper, that, of course is different.

Is that supposed to be funny or mean? Hard to tell around here. I don't think I ever insinuated that I planned to eat my horses, goat, or cat.
