My son is turning 1 this thursday! ! :) So excited. BUt no excited about the fact that he has to fall asleep w a bottle. I don't rock him which is a BIG plus for me. I put him in the crib he drinks his milk and he's out in 5 mins. I know the milk and juices can cause decay but is there any other reason why I should start to try to break the habit? ? He still wakes up once at night. and i give him 2 oz of camomile tea (no sugar)

If you're worried about the tooth decay, put water in his bottle instead of milk. That's what my dentist friend recommends.

Will he take a sippy of water instead of a bottle? I did this for dd when we weaned from breastfeeding at one year. She continued to use a sippy for about a year afterwards and gave it up when she was ready.

My daughter starting taking her bottle to bed w/ her at 6 months and 1 week before she turned one (earlier this month) we switched to water in a sippy. She hated it for the 1st two weeks but getting better. I personally think the longer they have it the harder it is to take away. Plus like you said, it does cause tooth decay.

I think breastfeeding is only the best way. I don't bottlefeed my baby because a pediatrician I know said that kids will not get the exact nutrients with processed milk.
