So I think we have almost decided on naming our son Carter. I love the name, but still wrestle with questions like, is it too feminine?, work well on an adult?, too trendy?
My hubby and daughter prefer Carson. But our last name is Friesen, and I think that the last three letters make up too much the same sound, Carson Friesen sounds like too rhyming for me.....so what do you think? Does it matter even though first and last names get used together a lot.
Its a toss up between these two names, and I'm not sure which sounds better.

Carter makes me think of Jimmy and Carson makes me think of Palmer but I think both are fine names. I actually considered both of these myself for a few seconds before moving on down the list. We still don't have a name ourselves ... as the weeks count down. I think with the last name Carter may sound better, but as a stand alone name I kinda agree with the husband/daughter. But either sounds pretty good. At least you have the surname down, that's still an open matter with us too ...

Hmm I agree and I like both Carter and Carson. But I think Carter would be better, my family has a few babies with rhyming names (cousins) and it's hard for the children to learn them.

I personally don't think it sounds too rhyme-y.
