Just curios what most of you do for exercise after pregnancy and do you involve your babies in the workouts? Let me know your thoughts.

Hi, so I don't actually have a baby yet, my husband and I are trying to concieve at this time, but I do have an opinion on the exercise thing. I live in a VERY small town, it's only a 10min walk to the post office and since walking is the easiest thing to continue throughout pregnancy and beyond I have started a routine. I walk to to the post office and then about a mile around town heading back home. Right now my husband and dogs come with me but I definitly plan on bringing my baby with me! That's what they invented strollers for, right? :)
Aside from that I ride horses, work in my garden and will be chasing my kid around too....
I think the important thing is to establish a routine and stick to it and eat healthy!

GOOD LUCK!

Good for you. I wish I lived somewhere where I could walk. Not only for the fitness benefit but also for the cost of fuel.

I don't do anything... hahaha I just figure I have to except myself the way I am. I'm too into food and from my experience in order to lose weight you have to exercise and eat healthy and I am not willing to do either. I admit it I'm lazy and I love fast food.

I actually don't have a baby yet either but I am pregnant and work out just about the same as I did before I was pregnant. Like MamaN17, I live in a small town and can walk around the entire town in just a few miles. I've also started a routine with my dog and mom. I think walking is one of the best exercises because it's safe and so good for you. If you can walk, I would do it. Also, since it's getting warm outside, swimming would be great too. Sometimes it's easier to have someone work out with you, so if you have someone willing to do so, I'd encourage it because the workouts go faster and you can chat too! Good luck!

Breastfeeding, walking A LOT (with and without baby), and healthy eating habits all helped me lose the weight after my daughter was born. I tried to involve my baby early on since I had no energy to do a seperate work out routine. We would dance and dance until I was all sweaty! That was such a huge stress reliever and aerobic exercise all rolled into one.

I climbed stairs A LOT!! I intentionally kept baby related items upstairs while our main living is downstairs. That forced me to climb the stairs with her for my weights at least 30-40 times daily. :) When she got old enough to sit on her own, I would put her between my legs and do sit ups - giving her a kiss each time I went up and forward. That made her and I both giggle which distracted me from the exercise in a good way.

Bike riding around the neighborhood with my daughter in a little 'trailer' being towed behind was great too. She loved it and fell asleep just about every time we rode. Great workout!

I was back down to pre-baby weight in no time, but I kept up with the exercise lightly. I actually ended up losing too much weight and had to have help from the dr getting back to a healthy weight. I know, horrible problem to have. :)

Good luck!
