My 6 year is trying to kill everything

Just this morning I caught my 6 yr old son trying to kill the cat. He had the cat pinned down and pushing on her with something and all the cat could do is mewo and she had a hard time doing that.. This is not the first time I have caught my son trying to kill something.. First was his baby sister and now the cat.. I just dont know what to do about this... I WONT hit my kids.. I have tryed taking things away from him and when he does get them back he's good for MAYBE 2 weeks and then hes right back to where he was before.. I have tryed bring him to a shrink and she told me that there was nothing wrong with him.. Im to the end of my list of things to do with my son.. About the only thing I have left on my list is to deal with it untill I can put him into a home for a little while BUT my mom and dad did that too me and it just made me worse and I DONT WANT HISTORY to REPERT ITSELF! But Im a single mother and I have No clue about this whole kids trying to kill animals and there brothers or sisters thing. I have heared about it a few times about Kids doing that kind of things but I have never heared what they did to stop it or anything... SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME?!?!?!?!?!

I would take him to another child psychologist for another opinion. this could be signaling a major psychological issue, anger management problems, or control issues. I was a psychology major and do remember reading something about this somewhere, not to scare you or anything but I believe it was in relation to serial killers and this was something they had in common as children. This is not normal though and needs to be checked out. if the first person you spoke with didn't take you seriously take him else where. better safe than sorry.

Here's some further information for you. again I don't want to scare you but it sounds as though your son has the criteria for conduct disorder which after age 18 is categorized as antisocial personality disorder.

Conduct disorder is a psychiatric category to describe a pattern of repetitive behavior where the rights of others or the current social norms are violated. Symptoms include verbal and physical aggression, cruel behavior toward people and pets, destructive behavior, lying, truancy, vandalism, and stealing.

After the age of 18, a conduct disorder may develop into antisocial personality disorder.
Also here's a list of people with a history of animal cruelty and their various crimes. Again I don't want to scare you, but I do reccommend you take this very seriously and have him checked out by another child psychologist who actually knows what she/he is talking about, as the first one obviously didn't, so you can get help for your son before it develops into something major.

Christine Felling-Tortured and killed cats to see if they did have nine lives.-By the age of 19, she murdered five children and an elderly man.


Edward Kemperer-Cut up two cats.-Killed his grandparents, his mother, and seven other women.

Theodore Robert Bundy-Witnessed animal cruelty by his grandfather.-Killed thirty-three women.

Jeffrey Dahmer-Participated in the deliberate killings of animals by car.-Murdered 17 men.

Richard Allen Davis -Set "cat fires."-Murdered Polly Klaas, age 12.

Richard Speck-Threw a bird into a ventilator fan.-Killed eight women.

Rod Ferrel-Leader of a gang of teen "vampires" From the age of nine to sixteen, tortured and killed cats and dogs, broke into an animal shelter, beat dogs, and multilated puppies.-He bludgeoned an elderly couple to death. He was 16 and is now on Death Row.


Randy Roth-Taped a cat to a car's engine and used an industrial sander on a frog.-Killed two of his wives and attempted to kill a third.


David Richard Davis-Shot and killed two healthy ponies, threw a wine bottle at a pair of kittens, hunted with illegal methods.-Murdered his wife, Shannon Mohr Davis, for insurance money.


Peter Kurten--The Dusseldorf Monster -Tortured dogs, practiced bestiality while killing the animal.-Murdered or attempted to murder over 50 men, women, and children.


Albert De Salvo-The Boston Strangler -Would place a dog and a cat in a crate with a partition between them. After starving the animals for several days, he would remove the partition and watch them kill each other. Also, would shoot arrows into boxes of trapped cats and dogs.-Raped and killed nine women by strangulation. He would often pose the bodies in a shocking manner after death.


Richard Trenton Chase-The Vampire Killer of Sacramento -Bit the heads off birds, drained animals for their blood, killed animals for their organs.-Killed six people in random attacks. One police officer who was at the scene of the first murder confessed to having nightmares about the crime for months afterwards.


Luke Woodham-Set fire to his own dog, Sparkles. He poured accelerant down her throat and set fire to her neck both inside and outside.-Went on a shooting spree which killed two girls ages 16 and 17 after stabbing his mother to death. He was 16 years old.


The Kobe Killer - an as yet unnamed 15 year old boy in Japan-Beheaded a cat and strangled several pigeons.-Decapitated 11 year old Jun Hase, and battered to death a 10-year-old girl with a hammer and assaulted three other children in separate attacks.


Richard William Leonard-His grandmother forced him to kill and multilate cats and kittens when he was a child. -Killed Stephen Dempsey with a bow and arrow. Killed Ezzedine Bahmad by slashing his throat.

Jack Bassenti-When his dog had puppies, he buried all but one of them alive.-Raped and murdered three women.


David Berkowitz-"Son of Sam"-Poisoned his mother's parakeet out of jealousy, and shot his neighbor's labrador retriever.-Shot thirteen young men and women. Six people died and at least two suffered permanent disabilities.


Arthur Shawcross -Repeatedly threw a kitten into a lake until the kitten drowned from exhaustion.-Killed a young girl. Then, after serving 15 and 1/2 years in prison, killed 11 more women.


Michael Perry-He decapitated a neighbor's dog. -Killed his parents, his infant nephew, and two neighbors.


Jason Massey-Killed cats, dogs, and cows.-Killed his thirteen year old stepsister and a fourteen year old boy.


Patrick Sherrill-Stole neighborhood pets and encouraged his dog to attack them.-Killed 14 people at his workplace before killing himself.

Joel Steinburg-Refused medical treatment his adopted daughter Lisa's pet rabbit when it broke its leg.-Killed his adopted daughter, Lisa. Lisa also suffered from extensive bruises all over her body. Her hygiene was very poor, and Steinburg was seen tossing Lisa into the Atlantic surf at the beach.


Brenda Spencer-Set the tails of neighborhood cats and dogs on fire.-Fired 40 shots into a crowd of children, murdering two and wounding nine.


Carol Edmund Cole -His first violent act was strangling a puppy.-Murdered 35 people.


Richard Grissom-During a burglary, tortured and beat the family's pet cat, nearly crushing the cat's skull.-Kidnapped, terrorized and murdered at least three young women.


Kip Kinkle -Said he blew up a cow once. Set a live cat on fire and dragged the innocent creature through the main street of town.Classmates rated him as "Most Likely to Start WWIII." -Shot 25 classmates and killed several in Springfield, Oregon. Killed his father and mother.


11 year old Andrew Golden and 13 year old Mitchell Johnson-Tortured and killed dogs.-Golden and Johnson shot and killed 4 students and 1 teacher during a fire drill at their school in Jonesboro, AR.


Robert Alton Harris -Initial run-in with police was for killing neighborhood cats.-Murdered two 16 year old boys, doused a neighbor with lighter fluid and tossed matches at him.


Russell Weston, Jr. -Tortured and killed 12 cats: poured toxic chemicals in their eyes to blind them; forced them to ingest poison, burned and cut off their tails, paws, ears; hung them from trees (the noose loose enough to create a slow and painful death).-Killed 2 officers at the US Capitol in Washington, DC.


Craig Chandler Price-During his trial, his mother stated that as a child, he would "rough play with animals"; he bragged that he liked to kill and/or hurt cats; would get the family pet cat high on marijuana.-At age 13 during attempted housebreaking, stabbed to death a neighbor as she lay sleeping. At age 15 during attempted housebreaking, stabbed to death another neighbor and her two young daughters, inflicting 120 stab wounds on the three bodies.

That poor mama's not gonna sleep for a week! ;) xxbloody--definitely mention it to your pediatrician and the school counselor (get the ED teacher and the school psych involved if his school has them). Get a second psych opinion for sure. Don't give up trying to find an answer and to solve the problem. Have you called Dr. Phil yet? :)

I feel the nightmares myself!I do agree that you have your son see another psychologist and you should speak to the school "team" to find out if there is anything else going on. I just have to say that when these exam are going on i don't know if your in the room or not or can see through a two way mirror but maybe in the first appointment your son was not being his real self to put on an act for the doc??It's just a maybe,If you were unable to see the testing the first psych did maybe this time around I'd ask to at least see(If there's no mirror or anything ask for it to be taped) it so you can say whether he's being him-self or putting on a show for the doc.

I am also a was psychology major in college and I thought antisocial personality disorder before I was even half way through your post so I would have to agree with every one else you need to take this very seriously and get him evaluated again and keep at it until you find a mental health professional that will help you.

What's unfortunate is that kids don't always show their true selves to newcomers--especially adults. If the second psych doesn't see it, ask about doing an eval at home or doing a hidden camera type thing.

Find a psychologist who isn't just going to see your child once and make a diagnosis... Ask your pediatrician for an actual referral, and ask him to speak to the child psychologist so as to validate YOUR concerns. I agree with everyone on this post that this seems like it could be a potentially very dangerous situation. Insist on help from your medical community and don't take no for an answer. You know your son best and if you feel something is wrong (and it does seem that there is), then push it until he is being seen by a child psychologist on a regular basis. God bless and good luck.

Imagine, having a son, age 10...who makes kids cringe with fright when walking through the classroom or church class...or just walking down the street...taking a butcher Knife over top of you & your husband ready to slash you. Taking pictures of you with your back turned & also making stabbing gestures while your back is turned. Or just imagine a child who likes to finish your sentences for you and everybody else and hit and tell off everyone around you...or hitting you while you are sleeping? Tell me? Or peeing on the floor and this child was only 8 steps away from the bathroom many times, peeing the bed...telling neighbors he will break into their homes. Stealing, lying and hurting and killing animals because "It's Fun"! Or how about a child telling you off as a parent...I am going to kill you. or telling others that he/she will kill their parents or anyone else they know. Having alarms on your doors and locking yourself in your own bedroom because you cannot lock a child in their room...huh?..because of all they do...or throwing away the food you eat, because they say it is no good...and they keep the food they only want?...or how about a child hitting a pregnant mother in the belly...wishing the baby to be dead...or drawing pictures on what they'll do to their baby brother/sister after they are born and you as a parent had to for the safety of that newborn give it up for adoption. because they adopt out quicker and the older child you are force to keep because there is no help and there is no place to put them in the system...or how about a child constantly fighting you and you get harmed and it's ok for that child to do that...because there is no facility to place an unruly child at because they are too young?...Because the laws only cover Children 12 or over to be placed...Too many people in the system drag their feet to help parents, the system makes it hard for parents to rightfully correct their child...that child gets sent to school and becomes a bully because of other kids who have bad parents. you know yourself that Bad TV, Bad Video Games and Bad Kids provoke others kids...and when a decent parent allows their child to go to school...because it is the law...the parent gets blamed for what that child has done wrong??????? And how about a child who takes an alternator to an animal and bashes its head in and goes to his/her grandmother and bashes hers too?

Tell me...what is right from wrong about everything and anything pertaining to a "child" who acts like an adult that kills? Sorry, but every question I asked on here is real...because my husband & I had to live with it everyday....we cried out for help...we got temporary help from a place for kids on a 7 day stay to help with Mental Problems.

Imagine your child writing down he wanted to kill you because he didn't feel like doing his chores or eating what was prepared for him/her for supper...Note this: These types of children need taken out of the home and Put into Prison just the same as an adult...if they want to commit
murder, threaten to kill or harm others. They need put away! And that is final...No parent or organization should have to keep a child who is unruly, deceptive, thieves, lies, cheats, threatens, beats and knives things or themselves, has no love or remorse for what they did wrong...only pity upon themselves...not for what they just lost in their life. You may ask a question...there has to be a reason for a child to murder their parents or beat them or injure them...but ask this to yourself...If you lived in my shoes and knew there was nothing that could never ever change your child...what would you do? Get rid of him/her or die for that child? That is my final answer! Take it from a mother& father who are going through Purgatory with their child!
