New to this

Hello, I am new to all of this TTC as well as message boards. My significant other and I have decided to start trying for our first baby. We discussed it in May and decided we would try in Sept., so we gave it our first try last month. I am a little nervous just because I was on the depo shot for almost five years and have heard that it can be hard to conceive after being on it for that long. I am 27 and he is 36 and we really excited about adding a baby to our family. Just hope it goes well and is not a long struggle, however it would be worth it. Wanted to join the group for support and to maybe meet others who may have the same situation.

Welcome to the message board and good luck on your new baby journey!!! I am 27 and my husband and I have been TTC since August. I was on the Depo shot for about eight years and during that time I did not have any menstral cycles. The doctors sadi that was expected and I shouldn't worry. So long story short, I got off the Depo about two years ago and me and my husband weren't using BC but I have not gotten pregnant. I feel good about this month. I have been using the OPK's and I finally figured them out. Good luck to me!!!!

It is good to hear positive news from someone who was on the depo as well. I went off of it four years ago and since haven't been on BC but wasn't trying too hard. Hopefully it will work out soon. I didn't use OPK's this month but plan to do so next month if nothing happens before then! Good luck to you. :)

Hi Cobalt,

So I was on depo for about a year and didn't get my monthly friend at all during that year. I am kind of in the same boat as you where me and my husband would like to start trying. We decided in February this past year to not get my depo shot and see if me monthly friend would come back. I finally just got it back after not having it for almost a year and a half. My doctor put me on Provera a hormone medication that is supposed to help with jump starting ovualtion. I finally got it last month and then again 15 days after that.

I think it is different for everyone, and it does take time to get it out of your system. I think next time I will stick with the pill, too much stress is waiting for it to come, because we want to have a baby. Good Luck
