Hello Everyone, I've always been a parenting mag reader but this is my first time actually posting. I am 26 and a mom of 2 boys. The oldest will be 4 in December and the baby just turned 6 months old. For months I had everyone asking ''Oh is he potty trained yet?'' and once they heard me say no it was followed by ''what are you waiting for''. Our first attempt to train him was difficult since he had no interest in actually having to go to the bathroom so we didnt push the issue, but instead started to read books with him about it. A little after he turned 3 years old, I started to talk to him about giving up his diaper since his little brother will be here soon. I started to explain to him that now he was becoming a big brother and he couldnt use diapers, and he started to show interest. While being on my maternity leave i was determined to potty train him since i would be with him everyday instead of sending him off to the sitter. we printed out a blank calendar that day by day was filled with stickers and he had a deadline to keep up in order to get a car of his choice at the toy store. Who knew that would actually work. Was it the bribing or was waiting a few extra months the time he needed to actually make him feel ready? The baby was born and Stefano was finally out of diapers now the hard part how long should he use the pull ups for? most people say 1 pack is enough and i was hoping it was true the first time i stopped putting a pull up i was woken up by ''MOMMYYY MY BED IS WET''. So I gave up and bought a second pack but every night before going to bed I continued to remind him that there were not going to be any more pull ups after the pack was finished and that the store did not make them big enough for him. At the end of the pack it worked. So far no accidents, I dont know if its because he holds it until he wakes up or because he goes potty before bed. Last night the full potty training process was completed, he actually woke up from his sleep and with one eye closed and another one open he walked in to the bathroom and walked right back to bed. If i would have followed all the '' do this, and do that'' stories from my mothers aunt and in laws i would have probably have had a more difficult time haha
