I didn't hardly gain any weight while pregnant.. And now that I've had my baby I went a few lbs lower than my BPW.. My little girl is 8 weeks and 5 days old now.. But about 3 or 4 weeks ago I started putting on weight! I've gained almost 10lbs!
I had a c-section, so I went from being really active to stuck inside for the most part... Also somewhere at this point my Dr. office weighted my little girl wrong at one of her well baby apt. and my Dr. had me feeding her 20 min on each side every 2 hrs all through the night and pumping every last drop out after each feeding... So needless to say I was starving every time I turned around.. I've been craving milk, yogurt, ice cream.. Peanut butter and any kinda meat I can get my mouth on... Is it normal to eat like this??? And to gain weight like that?? I though you where supposed to loose weight quicker while BF?

weight loss is just a possible perk. With my other 2 i never lost weight breastfeeding. its too soon to know with this baby.
if you are pumping and feeding then yes hunger and loss of activity can easily lead to weight gain. one thing to try is drink lots of water especially while BF. Breastfeeding causes thirst and your body can think its hungry when its really thirsty. I am 2 weeks post op and starting next week I am going to add back in light excersize only what feels ok, i am sure by 4+ weeks I should have no problems.

My Dr. said I was low in Iron, thats why I was craving all the weird stuff... I've gotten back out side working, although I haven't "lost" any weight I'm feeling better =)

Also, maybe it is your body's way of saying that it needs the extra calories/weight to support you in the BF, especially if you didn't gain so much with the pregnancy. You need to eat about 500 calories more a day while BF.

i have been breast feeding for almost 9 months now, and i have not noticed a difference in my cravings at all, for water or food. i dont eat or drink more than i did before i was pregnant. i dont know if that is normal or not, i just thought i would let you know that. also, i have not lost or gained weight because of breastfeeding. i gained 36 pds in my pregnancy and lost 26 of that in the 1st week after giving birth, and the last 10 came off slowly
