HI I am a massage therapist and have been more introduced to doulas and midwifes. I love the concept and wish I would have know about them for my other children. I would like to know how to find a midwife/doula. Also, is there a diff. b/w the doula and midwife.

I'd start by asking your primary care physician, and then your obgyn too. Mine gave me some good leads. Good luck - keep us posted!

There is a big difference between a doula and midwife. Midwives are 'health care providers who are experts in women's health care including giving prenatal care to expecting mothers. They attend the birth of the infant and provide postpartum care to the mother and her infant.'

A birth doula provides labor support of the mother and family, they assist the laboring mother both emotionally (they have usually seen a lot of births) and physically (can help you deal with labor pains through massage and different techniques). They also do follow up care (postpartum care) and can help you with breastfeeding.

They are a valuable resource and can be very helpful, especially if you are having your first child or you want to have a natural childbirth. I decided to get one last minute and I am so glad that I did.

This is a great site to find a midwife.

U can ask Ob/Gyn Doctor or Nurse
U can call ur or ur hubby's Insurance to see if they approve to pay Midwives in ur area.
And
U can check on Computer and use Google for Midwife.
Also u can choose to stay your home birth with rental water tub or ur own bed with midwife, go to the Hosptial with bed or water tub, Private Home Birth Center with like House. Depend on ur wish to attend one of them.
I read on computer and said birth center cost about $4K. Tub rental about $120 dollar. It is vary with cost in state where u live.
Best Luck!!!
