Hi, well my son is eleven months. When do I start giving him cows milk? The doctor told us when he was 11 1/2 mo we can start... But he did not tell us how to get him off formula. So I read that you can try to start little by little like 6oz of formula and 2oz of milk one week then 4oz of formula then 4oz of milk next week then 2oz of formula and 6oz of milk...
And also some of my friends just starting giving there children milk without mixing the formula with it... So now I'm just so confused on when I should start or just give it too him straight out...
Also my son as of right now he drinks room temp bottles so when I start giving him milk... I think it will be too cold for him. Do you think I should warm it up?
Please any advice will be helpful Thank you very much.

I started my son on whole milk at 10 months, just cut cold turkey to it from formula, and he was fine.
For transitioning, I've heard its best to start to just like you said. But its not necessary to do it that way in all cases.
Basically, you should just trust your instincts on how you think your son will do with it, and follow that.
Like I said, my son had one bottle of formula, and then the next one was milk. He never had any issues with it, it was like he didn't even notice the difference. But not all kids adjust to new things that easily.
You're the mom, you'll know what's best for your baby. :)
Oh - for the temperature thing, at first I did pour my son's milk 5-10 minutes before giving it to him just so it wasn't completely freezing cold. With time, I stopped doing that though and he was still fine with it.
PS - I also give my son a daily vitamin, so he is still getting all the same vitamins and minerals and whatnot as with formula. We use Enfamil brand Poly-Vi-Sol with iron. Its liquid. :)

Most doctors recommend waiting until after 12 months to start on cow's milk because it can be difficult to digest.

I'm probably going to avoid cow's milk and use Enfagrow formula instead. It's for toddlers and has DHA and ARA and more complete vitamins and minerals than regular milk.

Thank you for answering my question. I will have to just try and see how he acts with the whole milk.
