My daughter is 3 1/2 years old. We started potty training at about 2 1/2 years old. It has been a super slow process with many ups and downs. She has always needed us to tell her to go to the potty along with help. There was actually a point where she would stay dry in her underwear. It has always been a power struggle though. Most of the time she resists when we take her to the potty (both taking her w/out saying anything, and saying "it's time to potty" other times). As of late I have been losing my mind. She now has gone back to wetting her underwear...not a lot but because she tries to hold it so long it leaks out. She does this because she doesn't want to go to the potty. Period. She very rarely informs us that she needs to go, but by then she has wet a little. She still (as I said before) gives much resistance when take her to the potty regularly so she'll stay dry. Every time she wets in her underwear (at least 6 times a day) we ask her why didn't she go to the potty before she wet, and try to tell her how to do it. She just says sorry mommy and gets new underwear to put on. Before I know it, she does it all over again. I really thought we would be past this by now. What is going on with her? Trust me, we have done the rewards (candy and stickers), threats, praises, etc. Nothing is working. How can I get her to go to the potty (or at least tell me) BEFORE she wets in her underwear? She can't seem to grasp the concept...or she just doesn't want to do it (lazy). Please help!!!
