Baby not sitting up blues!

My Daughter is almost 9 months old and still will not sit up byherself. She is not even interested in doing so but she is trying to crawl and just now starting to hold her own bottle...is this Normal or should I be concerned???

When you play with her, do you set her up between your legs (leaning back against your body) for practice? Does she have a Bumbo? How about a highchair that reclines a bit? If you're giving her plenty of practice and she's still not getting it, mention it to your doctor right away. I've know other typically-developing kiddos who sat late, but it's always good to check. Pants might be a factor, especially if they're cute ones. Many of my daughter's cute pants are too tight in the waist and/or too narrow through the thighs to let her sit stably. Just a thought.

my son was the same way, he did not want to sit up! he was always a very early learner he started to roll over at 1 month and crawl at 5months but did not want to sit up! i asked the doc and he said not to worry about it! he didnt sit by himself until he was about 10 months! he was already walking before he sat. they just seem to learn whatever they want when they want! but i would still try to work with her to get her going, she may realize she likes to sit up.

My son kind of lack in the corrdination department. it took him forever before he could sit up. He crawled before he could sit, my Dr says though that it's ok because he will strengthen his abbs while he crawls, so he can sit up. We kind of propped pillows up all around him incase if he tipped over, but let him do it for himself. The way he learned was he actually had to balance himself by putting his hands on the floor, so usually it intailed a toy on the floor for him to reach for.

My 10 month old daughter is not sitting up yet either so is supposed to see a specialist at the end of the month becuase my doctor is concerned. SHe is just now thinking about it but does not have it down yet the funny part is though that she can almost stand and she just started to crawl normal. (she gi joe crawled for months)
