I have a 23 month old daughter that loves her friends in her daycare class, one boy in particular. They are best buds and do everything together. Since she moved up to the toddler class last Thanksgiving, she has been biten 5-6 times. Two or three were last year and then three in the last month. Sadly, it is her best bud that is doing the biting. Daycare says that it will come out of nowhere and will just happen. There isn't any fighting going on between the two and thank goodness my daughter does hit or bite back. I feel really bad for the parents of the little boy. I really like the them and I know that the mother is taking this really hard. Any advise how what we can do on the receiving side of this would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I wish I could help, but my family is in the same boat. My little brother goes to daycare, and has been bitten several times. Unfortunatley, he does it too. Although, its been a long time since I have seen him do it. He is hitting alot now. Especially when someone takes something away that he claimed as "his". Or if you make him do somthing he doesnt want to do (nap time!). I guess I am in the same boat as you, and I hope that you find an answer! Let me know if you figured out something!

My son got bitten three times, badly, yesterday at daycare. The director told me that sometimes the older/bigger toddlers will bite the young/smaller ones as a sign of dominance. I know this doesn't help, but maybe it could explain where it's coming from?
